Setlist Discussion Part II - Spoilers Allowed, Enter At Your Own Risk

My friend that went with me to the JT17 Indy show was the same way. From SBS thru BTBS he was going crazy because it was all songs he knew. Then comes side 2 of JT, and he was bored. Then the encore comes, with the early 2000s triplets, and he was super excited again

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

So my friend who has been pretty vocal about his hatred of U2 is going to one of the shows. According to him, even though he thinks they're overrated, "they have some great songs, The Edge is an amazing guitarist, and I really want to see the Sphere." This has turned out to really be...

Setlist Discussion Part II - Spoilers Allowed, Enter At Your Own Risk

The problem is the deep cuts on the AB album take up all the allowed deep cut spots in the setlist. If they did an acoustic set of all unknown Zooropa songs, then after that played 4 deep cuts from AB, they’d totally lose the crowd. Hence why even the acoustic set has to be more hits. If it...

    So drummers...how is Bram ?

I'm a guitarist, not a drummer, but I've played in bands for 20+ years with a few different drummers. I have listened to most of the songs from last night by this point. I would say that Bram does a very good job of mimicking Larry and sticking true to the source material. He definitely hits...

The Overhang: U2 at the MSG Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part 2

Right? I find Vegas to be very PG-13. Sure, people illegally participate in prostitution, but that happens everywhere. Lots of people get drunk and hook up, but that happens everywhere. I've had wilder nights in Columbus, Ohio in my 20's. There's a stigma about Vegas that is very...

The Overhang: U2 at the MSG Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part 2

HAHAHA This quote is great! Like Headache said, I struggle with understanding the female mind, and learn something new everyday. in my situation I think there is a lot of the “what will the neighbors think?” Mentality with my wife. 2 years ago I went on a guys trip to Vegas. Nobody cheated...

The Overhang: U2 at the MSG Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part 2

DAMMIT!! Although I guess my wife wouldn't have let me use the tickets anyway!! I gotta get my ass to one of those shows!!

I'm not trying to convince you of anything. You asked what Headache was talking about, and I elaborated.

The Overhang: U2 at the MSG Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part 2

Hey, I love Cargo Shorts!! I feel weird wearing shorts without a bunch of pockets at this point. Then again, I'm permanently stuck in 2007. Divorce papers? That's a far jump from not letting me go to Vegas.

The Overhang: U2 at the MSG Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part 2

Tour rehearsals in Arizona (1987) and Las Vegas (1997) both destroyed his voice and left him performing at subpar levels on the opening nights in both cases. It's been stated by Bono himself that this was the case.

The Overhang: U2 at the MSG Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part 2

My wife is free to plan any trip anytime she wants with anyone she wants, with or without me or the kids. I would never consider telling her she couldn't do something, I would simply ask what I could do to help make it happen. She knows this, I encourage it. It's quite simply just a double...

The Overhang: U2 at the MSG Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part 2

Neither is an issue for us. We could easily afford a long weekend in Las Vegas. Our kids are 10 and 12, so they are old enough that they don't need constant attention and effort for any given babysitter. My parents live nearby, and would be happy to have them for a few days. They're good...

The Overhang: U2 at the MSG Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part 2

Ugh I'm actually looking at how much it would cost me to just fly in and fly out for a show and only do 1 night in a hotel. I'm looking at either Dec 6th or 13th. Being on Wednesday and some of the last ones added, those 2 seem to be the lowest in demand and have the cheapest tickets available...

The Overhang: U2 at the MSG Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part 2

It's Vegas. There will be single, attractive women absolutely everywhere. The U2 show is probably not the place to meet them. Just go to a party bar with a live band and dancing, and wait for the drunken bachelorette parties to show up. If your looks and social skills (GAME) are average or...

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

This is absolutely what they should be doing at this point of their career. They should take a page from the Rolling Stones book. Since 2012, they have just focused on one region per year (NA, Europe, Australiasia, etc). They typically do 20 or less shows per year. U2 should adopt this...

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

Neil McCormick doesn’t believe a NEW U2 album will be released until 2025. Realistically they won’t start working on it seriously until after Vegas, sometime in 2024. So late 2024/early 2025, with a tour beginning in 2025 is the best case scenario, I think. Ugh, I wish I could go to one of...

U2 to Perform First Concerts at MSG Sphere in Las Vegas

U2 are the wrong band for optimisim about future plans!! I'm hopeful that we get a new album/tour in 2024, but I think a lot of that depends on 1 . Larry, and 2. If they get their stuff figured out with their transition in management.

U2 to Perform First Concerts at MSG Sphere in Las Vegas

You owe it to yourself and your newfound freedom! I doubt you will regret going. I'm probably not going to be able to go to these shows. Not because of finances, or getting time off work, etc. But because I would NEVER be able to justify going to this to my wife. If you don't go for...

U2 to Perform First Concerts at MSG Sphere in Las Vegas

If they're planning on doing 12 shows, then I don't think it's going to be that hard to get tickets. Unless you're hoping to attend the opening weekend. But the 9th show shouldn't be too big of a deal. 18,000 x 12 is a lot of tickets to sell.

U2 to Perform First Concerts at MSG Sphere in Las Vegas

Same here, my wife is trying to figure out plans for our summer vacation next year. Then I dropped the bombshell of "I may be traveling to Vegas in the fall... but maybe not...". She doesn't like that level of uncertainty. I don't either. A long weekend in Vegas is not a cheap endeavor, and...

Songs of Songs, Books & Fat Puns - New Album Discussion #8

If this has been posted already then I apologize, I didn't see it anywhere. Larry was at home attending his father's funeral and taking care of those affairs. For a few days leading up to the debut of the IE tour in Vancouver, they rehearsed with a drummer named Keith. He does pretty good...

Songs of Songs, Books & Fat Puns - New Album Discussion #8

Perhaps Larry has already had some surgery, and there's more work to be done? Sounds like the damage is rather extensive, and he wants to get it taken care of before he enters old age, which is smart. I can't imagine the rest of the band performing without him, unless as stated before, it's...

Songs of Songs, Books & Fat Puns - New Album Discussion #8

I'd be cool with that situation. Would I go to the trouble of planning a trip to Vegas to see 3/4 of U2? Not sure at this point.

Songs of Songs, Books & Fat Puns - New Album Discussion #8

Right, the U2/Aerosmith situations are Apples/Oranges. U2's new management team are somehow affiliated with this new Sphere venue. I get wanting them to open the venue. But there are other acts they could get to open the venue with similar fanfare. I think the most shocking part about all...
