BREAKING NEWS!

U2 won a Golden Globe last night.

Amy Poehler made out with Bono.

You're welcome.

It's understandable...you have to make allowances for the fact that they were busy recording Ordinary Love.

Also 2 months to work on their cover of "This Is", and 4 months to work on "Invisible", with another month to plan the Super Bowl Ad.

One thing's for sure... it'll be interesting to hear the guys explain how and when these songs were written in future interviews. Were these songs from 2010/2011? Earlier? Later?

Number of reasons for the five year wait:

1 Clearly "u2' is not the no 1 focus anymore for some/all of the guys. And totally understandable as they have families, other interests and they are in their 50s ffs.

2. Bono's political work has delayed each album by about a year, regardless of how much they try to deny it.

3. They are not as creative as they were from 1980-1995 and certainly nowhere near as creative as 1984-1988, and that genius will probably never return unfortunately.

4. Too afraid to take chances creatively and have given in to commercialism to an extent. Songs of Ascent may have been great and could have been released three years ago.

5. It's not five years if you consider the Spiderman record as a u2 album.

I imagine we won't hear much of anything from now until the Super Bowl. The commercial will air, the song will be for sale, and still we'll hear nothing.

I can't hear anything at all, I have a giant cockroach stuck in my ear so im blind. I meant to say deaf, in one ear. The other ear I filled with seamen cement because I wanted to try and trap the damn cockroach if he/she decided to crawl through. Now that ive gone and done that, I have a really bad inner ear infection and a case of vertigo. I tried to slit my wrists to make it all end, but they took away my eating utensils at the funny farm. All I have now is lots and lots of pills. Pills that make me goofy, pills that make me fly, pills that make me count all the blue cars, and pills that give me shits and fits or rage and tossing daisies up and down the mountains.

If it weren't for interference I don't know what I would do with my self. I repeat...no no no...I don't know a thing. Despite all of my rage im still just one supervised bath away from slipping down the drain of life and floating home with the bubbles and the rubber duck.

And yet we still know nothing.

I broke my no-listen embargo, and have given Invisible a few more spins.

the cleaned up clips help.

verses are hard to make out.. but there is no denying that HUGE hook that comes with the chorus. huge.

and the little melancholy part that follows the chorus (sounds like dooeee daaaoooo) sounds like it's Edge, and then Bono chiming in with the falsetto after.. maybe repeating "Inviiiisiblllle"?

fucking LOVE. hope it sounds as good as what I'm hearing in my head. :reject:

If you actually had the balls to say this to members of U2, they would probably all beat the shit out of you.

U2's new recording strategy should be to record their songs in really shitty quality from far away and then re-write them based on the better sounding song they can make out from the clip.

BREAKING NEWS!

U2 won a Golden Globe last night.

Amy Poehler made out with Bono.

You're welcome.

And that "article" about the album being a June release is about as legit as the PopCrush one where Taylor Swift hung out with Bono and got "album tips". :madwife:

I'll just be bold and say it now. Super Bowl ad, new single ("Invisible"), and it's going to be the lead single as well as the RED campaign song. New single available for download/purchase on Feb 4th (Tuesday following the SB ad) since they're going to want to create immediate demand.

I bet we have our album in March if not sooner. This is not Paul's U2 anymore. This is LiveNation and Guy Oseary. They are going to want to do this while "the pan is hot" so to speak. If they are going to spend MILLIONS on a 30 second Super Bowl spot, you had better effing believe that U2 is going to be putting out an album NOW as opposed to June. Super Bowl ads are NOT for something that is six months down the road. :waiting:

Also, U2 was at the Golden Globes last night. AS A BAND. That screams "NEWS" to me. If it was still six months out, Bono could have shown up, accepted on behalf of the band, and praised Mandela's work all on his own. But no. We got the ENTIRE BAND. And they performed at a benefit for Sean Penn. That doesn't sound like a band who is still 'in the studio' to me. :hmm:

Okay, I'll go back to PLEBA now. And wait eagerly for our Super Bowl ad and the new music. :shifty:

^ this! There is no way there is no album to follow shortly after the sb! Too much money and time spent for just a stand alone single! Yes I know they are rich blah blah blah but you just don't spend 4 million on a throw away! And the band look in good form and are showing up as a full band and performing together! How much more clear do you want it to be to convince you that an album is coming soon?

The only way an ad at the super bowl makes sense is if you can download it from a mobile device right then and there.

I'm fairly certain everyone in the U2 camp knows this, and I KNOW that Guy Oseary knows this.

Sent from my android cause iphones are for old people

This is the problem with that theory: if the partnership is with a new music streaming service, doesn't it seem counterproductive to that agreement to then be like "...but you can BUY our album tomorrow"?

Well... nobody has confirmed that it's a streaming service.

Wait...what? I don't get a chance to check this board much. Is there a clip somewhere??

search U2BR on youtube.. and you should see some clips.. unless they've been taken down.

quality is horrid. be warned.

And last I heard, the "brand partnership" hasn't been confirmed yet. We know it's LiveNation (as per mgmt) but whether or not it's some sort of streaming service, we have no idea on that yet. And probably won't until closer to Feb 2nd.

Those of us who watch the NFL playoffs ought to be watching closely. They're already promoting the heck out of the halftime show (Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers; sponsored by Pepsi). We might hear/see something to let us know what is going on. Or not. Either way, we might as well sit back, enjoy the GG win...wait for the Oscars, and count down the days until Feb 2nd.

Oh, and thank you Amy Poehler. Your makeout session with B last night has gotten a TON of press. All of which mentioned the band's win, the song, etc.

As I said last night, seems like they were cutting to Bono/Edge frequently for reaction shots, even before the Poehler but. Like, suspiciously often.
