The Football weekend was great here. :D My team's still no. 1, now 7 points ahead with 3 matches left to go. Next week is the big decision weekend, if they win that match, they're the champions this year, but if they tie or, dare I say, lose, it's still all open till the last match.

Would be hilarious if they win next week. It's the night before Queen's day, our national holiday. Usually 200,000ish people celebrate it in Amsterdam, but this year the party wasn't allowed and you're only getting 1 beer per person, so nobody's planning on doing Amsterdam. But if Ajax wins? There will be a party and we will have beer dammit!

Nice! I love hammocks. We have lots of trees in our backyard (the property I live on is pretty big), but there aren't two that are close enough to warrant setting one up. Too bad.

Today we're supposed to have a high of 21C/70F!  I might have to go for a nice long walk so I can enjoy the sun and warmth. :)

I cannot believe the northeastern U.S. is getting the snow it's getting. In late April. The hell, Mother Nature?

Thora, argh, that sucks, I'm sorry . Continuing to hope for better job prospects for you-there's something out there, I just know there is :).

I occasionally have to take calls from a cranky guy named Richard Wiener. Hilarity ensues.

:lmao:

We get a guy who's ordered books a couple times whose name is Larry Boots. I've never seen him in person, but his name makes me have this image of a grizzled, old Clint Eastwood type guy who speaks low and just says, "Hello, I'm Larry Boots." I'm going to be kinda disappointed if I ever see him in person and he's nothing like that :p.

It's been a hectic time of it this week work-wise, and last Wednesday/Thursday we had kids in the mall for soccer photos and whatnot, and kids were running around with soccer balls in the store or in the main area of the mall and...yeah. And then on Friday I stayed an extra hour because a co-worker had to leave early for a doctor's visit (nothing super serious, but she's got that fibromyalgia thing and has shooting pains every now and then that really wear her down at work-retail is not a job for people in that condition). And then I worked yesterday, and we were super busy. The last couple weeks have been like this, because a couple co-workers quit-found new jobs, and one is on leave for a while due to family issues. So since I'm about the only person at work who doesn't have a second job nor much of a life outside of the job I do have, I got to pick up a whole mess of those people's hours while my manager went around looking for new employees (she's found 3 and they've been hired and are starting this week). On the downside, I'm exhausted. On the upside, bigger paychecks. So it all balances out.

But today, I did not work! I got to relax at home! Back to work again tomorrow through Thursday, though, wooooooo.
Um..... I'd offer a hug for your coworker, but with that fibromyalgia, I don't think it would be a good idea. :reject:

Wow. That's a lot of kids to deal with. :crack: *can barely handle her nephew 99% of the time*

Yup, I'm not a finalist. It's all people with huge blogs. Typical. :tsk:

Don't feel so bad....it feels like fall this month here in the Midwest when earlier last month it felt like Summer

It's in the 80's here in northern UT, and by Friday it's supposed to be in 50s.

 bummer....sorry to hear. But now this should give you the motivation to build your blog! If the job is only for a year don't you think maybe a year from now they will be looking for someone new? :flirt:

Haha, I'm in the Midwest, so I've been experiencing it, too. I'm not complaining at all, I find the weather of late nice . It's been perfect.

I'm the weird one who WOULD like that snow up in the northeast if I lived there :p. But it is awfully strange to be getting it in late April.

Thanks, I'll pass on the "hug in spirit" to her :). Yeah, I feel bad for her, too, she has to go to the doctor regularly for it. It doesn't sound fun at all.

Wow. That's a lot of kids to deal with. :crack: *can barely handle her nephew 99% of the time*

It is. And there were more tonight. And they were loud. And running through the store. And moving things around. And there was one kid who was a bit of a brat and kind of bugging me. And more kids bouncing balls around. And parents who weren't paying that much attention or who were yelling at their kids and the mother of the bratty one looked like she was off in some other world :crack:.

Did I mention I don't want kids anytime soon?

What part? *Sorry for asking :reject:*

True...I rather have fall/spring weather right now than anything else. I'm not looking foward to a Chicagoan summer :|

I'm perfectly happy to stay in the Chicagoland area...weird weather and all!

That's Chicago weather in a nutshell

 I spent an entire day in Chicago once... it was fun. :D Got the biggest blister of my life from walking all over the city, but it was worth it.

After all, I got to see Soldier Field :)love:) and eat supper at Bubba Gump.

I've seen commercials for some of the medication that can be prescribed for it, and it actually makes me glad that I just have chondromalacia....

*raises hand* Same here... probably never, with me. I'm not a very patient person in general, and I don't really like kids. :reject:

The medication commercials are crazy sometimes. There's medication that has a list of side effects that takes up half the commercial itself, and the side effects often sound worse than what you currently have!

What's chondromalacia?

That's okay :). Some people just don't have that maternal/paternal instinct and just can't be around kids much. I think it's good that people realize that and decide not to become parents, instead of have kids because people expect them to because society says they should or something.

Given your attitude, then, if you ever were to come into my store, I'd be sure to warn you of the days you might likely have to deal with such situations . Avoid Saturdays, and most evenings.

No problem! I live in northern Iowa. Not too far away from you, just one state over and a...what is it, 6 hour, maybe a couple more, drive from Chicago? I could easily get to that city within a day.

I've passed the very, VERY southern end of Chicago when on a high school bus trip. I'd like to visit the city proper itself someday, it sounds like a really cool place.

Agreed on the summer, too, with some of our unusually warm bouts we've had recently, I wonder if that tells us anything about how hot this summer's going to be. I'm hoping it won't get TOO warm.

 That's what me and my mom say!

It a knee condition that consists of a softening of the cartilege. The only realy treatment is pt (which I was never referred for) and anti-inflamatory pain pills (which they gave me in plenty).

That is definitely me. :D

Avoid Saturdays, and most evenings? I can do that. :shifty::D

Oh, absolutely! I'm going to still keep on trucking with it for sure. I'm going out for lunch with a friend this week, and we're going to a place that I'll be able to review, so that's great. :)

I'm pretty sure it's a one-off thing, but you never know! :D

I haven't even been doing this for a year yet, so I know I'll get more experience and build a bigger website as time goes on. :)

I  going to Chicago. In fact I've been going about once a month through buses and train (since I live southwest of Chicago).

Just remember to wear really supportive and comfortable sneakers next time you come to Chicago. I wouldn't really recommend heels...unless you really want to. Flip Flops work also in warmer months.

True....I'm not a big fan of Soldier field...mainly cause I was so exhaused going up and down those steep stairs when I went to see U2 in 2009. Design wise, I'm ok with it but I rather watch a Bears game from home.

Never been to Bubba Gump (even though I know where the Navy Pier location is at)...how was the food?

That's nice...have you ever been to Springfield? Never been there...but would love to go there one day.

It usually takes me an hour or three to get to Chicago (depending on which color train I'm going to. I live near 3....the blue line at O'hare (I live near a Pace Bus line that goes to O'Hare), the green line in Oak Park (Have to take 2Pace Buses) and the Orange Line at Midway (Have to take a Pace Bus and a CTA bus). But to me...half the fun is getting to Chicago).

I've never been to the southern end (or northern end) of Chicago because I tend to stay towards the Loop area. But I have been to a Sox Game (this was well before the last World Series win...and I was bored to tears!) in the south side. But Chicago as a whole is very cool. All the theaters are in one area and most of the muesums are fairly close together. But I would recommend taking the buses and EL because Chicago is like New York and LA. The traffic is a nightmare!

I HATE summers in Chicago! I'm the crabbiest person during that time because I feel like a burnt sausage at a 7-11! :scream:

Thora sorry to hear about the job announcement. Damn. :| I hope something better comes along just for you!

Thanks, comet! I hope so too. I've signed up for LinkedIn (I hate having to sign up for another damn site), and am connecting with everybody I know over there in the hopes that that will help get my resume out there more, etc.

I'm so fucking tired of all of this. I just want a job. :sigh:

That sucks Thora. :( Hope you can find one soon.

I'm considering applying with IKEA. Apparently they hire lots of students, over 15 year olds, and have good employee ideas. Sure as hell beats this shitty 6-9am shifts. :crack:

I am stressfree. Or as close as I will be this week.
I had continuous de-stress spooning all night/morning with ze boy. :giggle:

I'm not going to work on the life-sized self portrait until the weekend...so that's gone from my mind...

Scary flight plan/moving out/packing shit up worries are gone, also, thank god.

Thanks. I just found an interesting sounding position on one of the job sites I frequent. It's ridiculously high paying and I'm definitely qualified, so I applied. It's encouraging that there ARE jobs appearing, so hopefully I'll get an interview for one of them soon. :)

Oh man, I LOVE Ikea! Hope that works out for you!

I can entertain you! :cabbagepatch:
