WTF GaGa?

Scarecrow for the new batman movie?

Hey Diane.

John, Kanye West has embarrassed himself at an awards ceremony again? I'd be almost disappointed if he DIDN'T do something daft at a ceremony now.

Difference?

:lmao:

Hey Ax.

I asked this a few pages back but it probably got lost in the shuffle so to speak...but if you were to recommend one or two bootlegs to download from each tour which ones would they be? I'm definitely doing Sarajevo from Popmart. I lost all my music :crack: so now I need to re-fill my itunes and I figure this time I'll just do boots.

Diane, bootleg recs:

Pre-Boy: 1980-02-26, Dublin.

Boy Tour: 1981-03-06, Boston and 1981-05-15, San Francisco. The band did TWO gigs on 1981-03-06, you want the one that opens with The Ocean as it is better quality.

October Tour: 1981-11-04, Berlin (equal best 11OTT ever, has three solos), 1982-03-17, New York.

Pre-War: 1982-12-06, London.

War Tour: 1983-05-06, Boston.

UF Tour: 1984-08-31, Wellington; 1984-11-21, Dortmund; and the most respectable gig ever, 1985-03-21, Chicago (a lot of tuf bono jokes come from this).

JT Tour: 1987-04-29, Chicago (Rock's Hottest Ticket); 1987-08-03, Birmingham (one of U2's most out-of-the-blue setlists ever).

Lovetown: Ahh fuck ... OK, the best quality recordings are the four Dublin gigs (1989-12-26, 27, 30, 31), of which I recommend the 26th and 30th the most. Then there's 1990-01-10, Rotterdam, probably the best audience boot of the tour. You also need one with Hawkmoon 269 opening ... 1989-11-18, Sydney is perhaps best, that's the bomb threat show.

Oh, here we go, U2 are about to start tonight ...

More boots:

ZooTV: 1992-06-11, Stockholm; 1992-08-16, Washington; 1993-08-28, Dublin; 1993-11-16, Adelaide. That should cover all the eras in good quality. If you want to hear Zooropa and Babyface live, also get 1993-08-11, London.

Popmart: Well, as you know, Sarajevo is the essential one. 1997-08-28, Leeds is also very good. Also get one of the South American shows ... I think 1998-02-06, Buenos Aires and 1998-02-11, Santiago are the two in best quality, but I haven't listened to these for ages.

Elevation: Um ... I'm really not the person to ask for 2000s bootlegs. I never listen to this tour. I remember 2001-12-02, Miami has good quality, but the set's kind of weak. Some first and second leg shows have strong sets ... not sure what the quality's like for 2001-05-15 and 2001-05-16, both Chicago, though. Ask somebody else, haha.

Vertigo: 2005-05-26, Boston; 2005-07-29, Gothenburg; 2005-09-20, Chicago; 2006-11-25, Auckland.

Three songs in, no surprises tonight yet, folks, but before NLOTH, Bono told the crowd "we've got old songs, we've got new songs, we've got songs we've never played before", and Willie (i.e. me) told somebody that tonight's got a world premiere.

It all adds up to: YBR is coming! :hyper:

It's going to be J. Swallow. I kept trying to tell you that in Amsterdam, but nooo, nobody listened to me!

Oh, this reminds me ... John, you still around? Don't forget Father Is An Elephant in the rate the song series!

I'd love to see your face if they ever did play that song.

I wouldn't want to be me because I'd probably break a rib or two laughing!

Forgot about that one

Too many songs

Do you need me to send it to you? And any others I haven't sent you yet? I'm having trouble keeping track too!

I also reckon we should put that hilarious remix of October from the They Call It An Accident compilation up for a vote ...

Not sure, I think I might have it, I'll look for it tomorrow

God, what a gorgeous song. Thrilled U2 are showing Passengers a bit of love.

Now all we need are Slug and Beach Sequence and One Minute Warning and Always Forever Now!

So, I heard Muse's album, and I loved it

I'm currently ranking it as their third best album, after Absolution and Origin Of Symmetry. That said, Showbiz's best songs are better than The Resistance's best songs.

Do people other than big fans of U2 even know that they are Passengers?

I wonder how many casual fans would know.

Well, YBR is on the second disc of the Best Of 1990-2000, but yeah, I've even had multiple people ask me on U2gigs "what is Your Blue Room?" and "what is Passengers?"

I love BH&R, as well all know, and I don't rank it above that, but who knows after I've herad it a few more times.
