It's so cute the way you call them brackets. Here they're parenthesis of they're curved, ( and ) and brackets if they're angular [ these ] and < these >.

Also brackets are used to hold up shelves.

:madspit:

Brackets: ( )
Square brackets: [ ]
Curly brackets (at least that's what my Maths C class decided to call them): { }

And I only associate < > with greater/less than, and diamond. Even though it's not a diamond. I certainly don't associate them with brackets.

Is this a reference to my Adam pencil smoking picture?!

I KNEW I GOT THAT IDEA FROM SOMEWHERE.

I do like WIR a lot, but Spanish Eyes is the other one.

No. Sorry!

Yeah, I've drifted away from other online communities I was a part of since I got big on here. I mean, like hell I have the time to go anywhere else anymore, really. Alright, there's another board I go to, but I've been a member for like five years and the community is tight like this, so I can't just leave for good. It's not that much of a forum now anyway, more like just a click clique. Also this is probably the largest forum I've been a regular poster on, which is kind of a good change.

Ah, quality choice. I was thinking of learning Spanish Eyes on guitar ... then I looked at the tab and said fuck no. I hate chords.

WHAT BUT I NEEDZ MERCY!!!!1!11oneoneiluvwun

For me, I'd pretty much drifted away from the religion/theology forums I used to post on - well, one closed and I've been banned from others. And I actively avoid other music communities now, since I've found participating in them just spoils the music for me; I'm not sure if correlation actually equals causation, but I don't want to put any more bands to the test. And my LJ went inactive due to various crises of confidence and mental apathy and so forth, and my brief attempt to revive it got hopelessly interrupted by the Superthread.

I'm going to listen to London Calling. There was a time when this would have definitely been in my list. I wonder if it'll hold up.

Far too patchy an album for me. Needs plenty of fat trimmed. Yes, I've got in trouble for that opinion before. I think Reggo nearly killed me.

I hate too much music.

Ha, yes, this is me too. Honestly, some of the stuff at the bottom of my top fifty are albums that I really like, and that I'd happily put in the top ten albums of whatever year they came out, but I'm not entirely sure they're good enough to go in a top fifty of all time.

{ these } things have no good use. I don't call them anything

And clearly you don't use HTML if you don't associate < arrow brackets > with anything else.

Actually, come to think of it, the { curly ones } are used for CSS. But Jesus CSS is confusing.

Yeah, I'm willing to agree, although I still think it's a very good album. Although I do like some of the less popular tracks on there, such as Lover's Rock. Still, some of it is a bit of a drag. However, I heard that u2popmofo was going to get totally rude on people who don't put it in their lists, so I might sneak it on spot 50 or something.

I'm up to Hateful, which definitely held up better than I thought.

Yeah, I feel like I'm getting rid of some of my very favourite albums just because I don't want too many double ups from single artists. I could put in Zen Arcade, Flip Your Wig, Metal Circus, New Day Rising and Everything Falls Apart for instance, but instead I'll probably just go for two Husker Du albums (I know we can have up to three, but I don't want to do that). I'll probably do Zen Arcade and Flip Your Wig.

The only time I can recall ever using { } is in advanced mathematics. Probably that proves how useless they are.

Oh, I wasn't even thinking of the use of < > in HTML!

Come on, mate! Don't be a tripper! Remember saturday night? You had like all my bud!

Well, I have some quality 2B I could spare, but this HB really set me back a lot and I want to enjoy it, you know?

I thought everybody liked Lover's Rock? I always get slammed when I slag it off. As for u2popmofo, I may have to do a special rant about specific London Calling songs on the Unpopular Musical Opinions thread just for him. The last five songs are just to a total waste.

Heh, my limit on my earlier list was 5 albums, which I put in place to avoid including almost everything by PT. Otherwise, no problems even came up - I think the maximum I included by any other band I seriously like was three. But yeah, some PT will have to go. I've no idea what. My top five PT albums are pretty much equal.

They do? Seriously? I never thought that was the case. I guess that's good.

I think you should replace PT albums with some black people music.

:madspit: For whatever reason, I don't think of them as brackets in that context. I mean, I'd probably call them that if I were ever telling code to someone, but mentally, I never make that reference.

In fact, it wasn't until I even got online that I figured out which of < > is greater than and which is less than. It's only because of <3 that I remember! Those symbols have ALWAYS caused me trouble. I seem to have a bizarre mental block on them.

God, I'm tired. I just saw "Vertigo Discotheque, Toronto..." as the last post in EYKIW on the forum index, and I was like "There's a discotheque called Vertigo in Toronto?! Why hasn't the superthread gone there!!!!"

:der:

The weird thing is, visually I can remember my first grade teacher teaching us that... but it makes no sense that we would be learning it that early. I'm so confused now.

But yeah, "I less than three you" is what really made me grasp it. I bet that's how they're teaching it to kids these days.
