I had trouble with a few questions myself, specifically the one about how to treat other cultures. I ended up taking the most diplomatic answer, but I've got to say, I never gave it much thought. I don't feel that such questions skewed my results any; I'm centrist, with a slight liberal slant. I still have something of a conscience on social issues, or so it appears.

Yeah, the cultures question really bugged me. I didn't think any of the options were particularly any good. I think what skewed me further to the left were the questions about education and healthcare. What baffles me is its calculation of authoritarianism. By any scale, I am pretty much opposite authoritarianism, but that test claims only 7% of people have produced more authoritarian results than I. WTF.

And if you "still have something of a conscience on social issues", what does that imply about me?

Wasn't there one person in that thread whose answers read "0% are more authoritarian"? :lmao: It was 13% on mine, for the record.

It seems to be presuming that more governance = more authoritarian, which quite simply isn't true. Your average two-bob African dictator doesn't offer much in the way of, say, national education or healthcare, yet is far more authoritarian than any country with a welfare state system. So somebody like myself who advocates a large infrastructure of state-run social services is categorised as authoritarian even though I also firmly advocate individual rights and freedoms.

Similarly, ecology being categorized under "loosening of morals" is laughable at best. It seems that any of those terms, whether it be tolerance, diplomacy, or anything with a remotely liberal stigma is placed under that umbrella. Bizarre, but unsurprising.

I love how taking care of the planet and maintaining a nice natural environment has a liberal stigma. :crack:

You'd think this is the one thing we could all really agree on ... nobody wants to live in a polluted wasteland.

Polluted wasteland = REAL America

That's probably not as poignant as it sounded.

Sorry, I forgot, I'm a dangerous radical threat to REAL America. I've read Rashid Khalidi's work and even CITED HIM!

Ha, the US used to have a political party called the Anti-Nebraska Party. That's awesome.
