Bono & The Edge at Thelonious Monk Institute Honors B.B. King, L.A.

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Yeah I did finally identify the guitar earlier in the thread here in one of my photos of it. At the show last night I couldn't see it well enough to be able to tell, but from my pic I could see it better. I've got a lot of photos of the Music Rising guitars, but had never see one as green and pretty as this one. I guess Edge kept a favorite!

The guitar t'is one of Edge's Gibson Music Rising Les Paul's.

Now HOW to get that link to the proshot to open. Little help?

I am still waiting for a picture that shows Bono knealing to BB King....where Bono's head is down. When I saw this , I thought that would be a great shot.

Great pics BC.

Bonofox & Bonocomet, you lovely ladies have out done yourself. 2 Bonos in one weekend how did you survive it all? :D
Bono sleeves, moob shirt, singing. I would have died!

Thanks to all who posted pictures, video and audio.

It looks to me like Bono is enjoying the book with Quincy.

Remember that Quincy Jones worked very closely with Bono ten years ago on the "Drop the Debt" movement and on other musical projects in the past, Also, Bono's son Eli has "Quincy" as part of his middle name so I don't understand why anyone would think that this book wouldn't be an appropriate book for a friend.

ohhh wow...ok, what a night!

yeah BC, I was there haha...I sat in mezzanine 1 on the left side row E....it was awesome...my sister turned to me and asked me if there were any people from the message boards here (cause I always talk about interference/U2 to her), and I said, "yeah, for sure"....and then right after I said that, I hear "we love you Edge!!!" or something like that and I got a kick out of that cause I'm pretty sure those were PLEBAN's hahaha....I wanted to meet some people from Interference but I didn't know for sure who was who and so I wasn't going to start randomly asking people if they were from Interference or something....I just wasn't sure how to go about it

Anyway, what an awesome night it was....I could not believe when Bono exploded with "yeeeeahhh yeah yeah....." in the beginning of When Love Comes to Town...I just started laughing with excitement cause I couldn't believe what I was hearing...I heard earlier in the week from somewhere, probably on here, that they were going to perform the song but that was awhile ago and nobody was talking about it so I just sorta thought it was wishful thinking...I guess not! :)

I kept wondering whether or not Bono and Edge were going to come out again after they did their little speeches....and this was one of the coolest things, cause first I saw this guy with Blonde hair come out in between acts, and I'm thinking "ok...........that looks just like Dallas..." but I still wasn't sure, and then I see this amp, and I'm like, ok....that looks just like Edge's amp, and then that guitar, it looked very Edge-like....and then fellow interferencers (i'm assuming) shouted "Dallas!!!" and I'm like YES! IT IS HIM!....and then at that point I was pretty sure that they were going to come back out again at some point....haha, it sounds silly but that was what was going through my head...It felt like I was trying to piece together a puzzle in my head to figure out whether or not Bono and Edge were going to come out again....it was pretty awesome.

I went with my family and they don't really know who Dallas is and what Edge's amps look like, etc...haha, so it was funny....anyway, awesome night!!

Yeah I was waiting for Dallas too, and as soon as we spotted him we were like YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely recognized the guitars as soon as he brought them out!
We were also Mez 1 but on the right. Next time Rob... REVEAL YOURSELF!!!

Ran into Dallas, hugged Dallas spontaneously, got hugged back. He said, "I remember you!" I told him about how I had been planning to go to LA to see old friends in Orange County, where I used to go to church, and didn't know about the Women's Conference or this event until Bonofox1 told me about it in an e-mail later. (As you guys know, I haven't been on the boards much!) Dallas told me how the guys had finished the album in NYC (if you've read U2.com's updates, you know that Bono said the album would be delayed because Edge was insisting on going to the moon!). They heard of this event and decided to come to it, or from what I understood from Dallas, Edge rocked out the idea. Dallas looked at my latest sketch of Bono and Edge and said, "Look at the glasses." I.E. - Bono's shades! He told me to wait right at the door and the guys would be out and that he would be right back, squeezed my hand briefly, then waved and went charging towards the parking entrance.

I waited over an hour and a half, and when the guys didn't emerge, I began to question straggling musicians who said that they had seen Bono and Edge leave already. Security told me that there was another exit facing the Roosevelt - thanks to my favorite CIA-looking suave security man! (He looked like Benjamin Bratt...I swear!) So, reluctant to go because Dallas told me to wait, I went to find Bonofox and Bonocomet and the rest outside the Roosevelt. But, from what we were told, He wasn't there!

 Dallas wouldn't fib to me would he?? But then with two exits and B.B., Bono and Edge could have taken any exit, I guess!

That's my story from last night! There were witnesses! And, I'm a Schoocake forever! Dallas is so sweet!

I believe this event has been on their calendar for quite a while, since it was announced back in March. I don't think it was a spontaneous decision.
