I don't think i need to worry, we were asked to buy merge with another bank by the Government so it wouldn't go under. So i wouldn't imagine they allow that if we weren't stable...

I'd say the merger was enforced by the government precisely due a lack of stability! Really, it seems the UK has been quite lucky that, so far, other banks or the government have been willing to buy out the banks on the verge of collapse and absorb all their bad debt and risk

Iceland looks like it won't have that good fortune. Whatever happens there, I don't think it's going to be pretty.

And I really do wonder how long the UK can keep going with its current strategy, if more shit hits the fan ...

Yeah, if Bono were aged 4-8, I'd be pretty impressed by his grasp of economics. Unfortunately, he's 48. In which case, I'm quite unimpressed.

But really, Bono's just a mouthpiece for the economists who bring him under their sway. It's a tremendous shame that he fell under Jeffrey fucking Sachs' sway rather than a real economist.
