Yeah....he was just an innocent guy from Brazil, and he didnt speak much English, so I don't think he even knew the rules about video cameras...but he had one of those bulky camcorders...but i still thought the security guy was being unfair...they could have just taken his camera.

Amazing show. We got in the GA line around 5pm and it was very very long, a couple thousand people at least. We really didnt think we would get into the pit at all, we had been at a nearby sports bar drinking and eating dinner before the show. Anyway when we finally got inside we headed down straight for the pit and we got in! I guess some people either didn't know what they were doing, what they wanted, or just wanted to be on the outside of the whole thing. Anyway for us it worked out great because we were on Edge's side near the rail. People around us had been in line since 9am and we just made it in, as one person told us "thats very Irish of you to go drinking and show up at the last minute, still make your way into the pit while everyone else waits it out in line"

The pit was very crowded and also very hot. I have no knowledge of any pit fiasco before we arrived, but the only security downer i know of is when someone in our section of the pit was smoking weed and security was profiling people who looked like they might be smoking, for lack of better terms. They would pick certain people and ask to see their hands to make sure they didnt have any mary jane. I realize Darth Jones doesn't want anyone smoking pot in his brand new stadium, but good lord people this is a rock concert what do you expect? Im thinking those security people were kind of a joke, anyway i wont let it bother me.

There was a pretty lively group around us, including some people from Ireland & Malasyia, and of course some kids and some adults who were having a great time. All ages were represented here. The sound was amazing from where we were at, from MUSE to Moment of Surrender, it was all good. No downers. And MUSE was pretty good too btw.

The claw is really hard to see from the pit because you are looking up, all the pictures i have seen from the news shows all of the pretty colors and the bright lights, etc. What we saw was basically a giant moster over the band and it was pretty outrageous. Which is fitting in this stadium, which is in itself a spectacle.

It's funny that the songs we probably least wanted to hear "GOYB", "Vertigo", "Elevation", were among the biggest rockers of the night and really blew the crowd (and us) away. I guess these songs have their place....also COBL was awesome and Bono picking up the teenager and letting him walk/run around the ramp and giving him the sunglasses at the end was pretty fucking cool. I'm not sure if the kid really knew what to expect, but by the end he walked away and turned around and gave Bono the peace sign, which was really fun. He got a lot of cheers himself, and he has a nice story to tell about being on the worlds biggest stage and getting bono-fide rock star glasses from the worlds biggest little singer.

ISHFWILF was awesome with the crowd basically singing a good portion of the song. Awesome. Amazing Grace, beautiful. MOS, Magnificent, UF, beautiful....elegant, atmospheric....awesome. UTEOTW was its ususal self, and awesome rocker that explodes all over the stadium, along with SBS and the climactic STREETS! Every song felt like a climax, a sonic orgy. I have positive thoughts on "Ill go crazy.." thought i would like to hear it again.

Bono and the band sounded great, Edge practically blew the roof off of the stadium and Adam's thunderous bass pounding in our chest along with Larry's drums were a testament to the power of this band and their unbelieveable stage setup. Bono's voice was great....terrific even.. though im guessing this tour is better served without a roof over our heads. We will find out in a few days in Norman.

Met a lot of cool people around us, including some Texas Longhorn fans who we got to chat some football with briefly and some girls who were a lot of fun. Dallas Schoo came out to do his thing between Muse and u2 and we raised such a ruckus as he walked by he paused and threw a guitar pick to the people who were standing next to us  Glad they got that because they deserved it after having to stand behind us tall folks during the show.

Anyway, thank u2 for building this enormous stage for all of us to come and see....and also for continuing to play great music and continuing to give a fuck...

Anyone notice what happened to Bono at the end of the concert.
During the end of moment of surrender Bono was wincing in pain and holding his ears.
He walked over to one of his monitors in the back and got on one knee. Larry looked over and was looking really confused and concerned. Eventually Bono moved further back behind the monitor and yelled something at his tech man. Tech man came out and also looked freaked out. By this time the music was ending and you could tell Bono was in some terrible pain.He couldn't sing the end of the song and just said the words as the crowd and edge finished it for him. At this time the rest of the band knew something was wrong. The song ends while people cheer. Adam walks over to Bono and you could read his lips asking him if he's ok. Bono grabs his ear and thanks everyone quietly. Very non Bono like. He points to Joe (the sound engineer) and points to his ear. A lot of people I know who was there notice the whole thing. Really surreal.

Other than this and the crappy event staff, the band blew the house down.

Wish I could see it again.

i took 50 bazillion trillion pictures of the stadium...

My only negative on the Dallas show was that the crowd wasn't as "into it" as they have been in the past. I think it's probably a combination of an older demographic (most people were mid-30s to 40s), a sometimes "too cool" Dallas socialite crowd, a Monday night show, and a massive stadium that wasn't as intimate as other tours. Sometimes, members of the band would walk right by or try to engage the crowd and many times people would just stand there and stare instead of jumping, singing or yelling. I'm not saying there weren't people into what was going on around them ... 'cause there were! But just overall ... people didn't seem to be engaged as much as European stadium shows in the past or U.S. arena shows.

It was definitely the Dallas socialite crowd. They were all over the place, wearing $300 jeans (both the men and women), drinking frozen margaritas, acting like they were celebrities and treating everyone around them like crap. There's just too many of them in this city and they go to all the "hot shows." I was lucky in that there were a decent number of U2 fans around me and we were all really into it.

I think i saw that but maybe from our vantage point it looked more like "part of the show". Now that you mention that it did seem kind of odd, maybe his earpiece got really loud or something?

Bono's last words to the crowd: "don't forget about us" or "dont forget us" or something like that. Very odd yet very cool....wonder what he meant by that?

They keep playing under space ships and playing like they do/did, nobody is going to forget them anytime soon.

Yeah, saw a few videos of it, something wasn't right at the end....

I dont know if any of yall knew what happened with the 2nd group of the GA line that got in but few of the guys didnt get their numbers in line on their hands and the security people told them they cant go in. they have been waiting since 9 am and of course the man was outraged. the surrounding fans were in outrage. luckily enough one of the tour staff came around and boy was he there right on time. if it wernt for him those poor folks would have lost their spots but thankfully they were let in the line again, and the line cheered. ha. and this was before the whole inner circle fiasco. so you can imagine i was already tense even before going in to the stadium and only then to face the worthlessness of the security people once again for the inner circle. couldnt believe it as i have been waiting for this show my entire life, and some dude in a white shirt blocks us off? thank god for u2 and muse and their good music to save the day.

The Line Up: We arrived at 6am almost on the dot and got our numbers: 101 and 102. I found out later that it was Tattoo (tattooed?) Dan who was The Line Guy. Mr.Z and I were shortly joined by Bono_212. We were sleepy but giddy. After that wore off, we just had fun most of the day/afternoon meeting the folks around us, playing cards and trying to catch up on some rest. It was my first all day in line experience and I had a good time. At one point two Aussies came up to our group and said "'Scuse me, do any of you know Zooey from Interference?" Turns out they were friends of Alisaura and she'd told them to keep an eye out for me.

The only thing I thought was kinda weird and bogus is that Dan let the guy in front of me sign his friends in at 6am even though they didn't show up until after noon. wtf? I flat out told them that if they got a better spot than I did, they'd better let me stand in front of them since I was at least 6 inches shorter than any of them.

Security and Getting In: Security seemed to have all their ducks in a row, coming by every now and then on their Segways :nerd: to tell us how things would work. We were blocked off into groups of 200 for entry. They herded our group towards the stadium at around 5pm and as we walked by, a few people jumped the line. Again, wtf?

We were herded down into the abyss behind a barricade of security ppl who kept us from running (probably for the best - steep and slippery floor) and while it was hard not to run it seemed to be going smoothly. Mr.Z and I took one look at how high the stage was and went directly for the outer rail. We were totally happy with our DEAD CENTER spot and Bono_212 quickly got the last spot next to us.

Then the whole Red Zone / pit debacle happened. It got ugly and I was sure ppl were going to get hurt. I didn't realize people actually left the pit - I thought everyone stayed. We just couldn't believe what was going on. How could local security NOT have gone over this 1,000 times with the U2 camp?

The only other wtf moment crowd/security-wise was the line jumper who wound up right next to Mr.Z on the rail. I soooooooo wanted to point out to security that she did NOT have a wrist band but then I thought that might not be good karma. At one point she started pushing Mr.Z and I thought he was gonna pop her one. He managed to keep his cool for the most part though.

Anyway, Muse? meh. Wasn't a fan before the show. Still not. Mr.Z liked it though.

The Show: I really really really really hate to say this but I was a little disappointed. The music was great. The video screen was super cool. The setlist was fine. But the energy of the band was pretty lackluster. Mr.Z and I were jumping up and down and screaming our hearts out - don't know what others around us were doing - but it seemed like the band was just sort of phoning it in last night. I don't know - maybe I'd just spent the last 4 years building Live U2 up in my mind so much that it couldn't possibly have lived up to my expectations but somehow I sorta doubt it.

I will say that Crazy Tonight BLEW MY MIND!!!! It felt like all four of them were right in front of me and I didn't even know where to look - very cool. (of course if you know me well enough, you know exactly where I was looking  )

And yeah, Mr.Z and were both wondering what was up with Bono during MOS. I was frankly a little worried. It was very bizarre. I'd like to hear if anything comes out about it. And may I be the first to toss out the ubiquitous "Is Bono okay?" :D

Anyway, I'm still looking forward to the rest of the shows I'm going to, but not with quite as much :hyper: as before. I AM looking forward to meeting others though.

AWESOME show; amazing people!! Inner Circle; right in front of Bono. And yeah had to fight off "I'm just cutting to see Muse" bullshitters in the beginning and they rightfully left afterwards. I'm also in the "Is Bono okay?" camp; he barely finished MOS and was grabbing his left arm; my sister was terrified that he was having a heart attack...

Here's me and my siblings during City of Blinding Lights; I'm second from right with the shit-eating grin!

That's because U2 WAS right in front of you during Crazy Tonight :faint:

I completely missed whatever went down during MOS, I was kind of...I spaced out a bit after WOWY ended ...

My pics are AWFUL, my camera wouldn't work most of the night, but I filmed all of Breathe, TUF, and UV and I strung together my clips of Muse if anyone wants to watch, my youtube channel: YouTube - bono212's Channel

As for the pictures:

HPIM1569.jpg

Guy fixing the video board lol. It was a waste of time, there was a whole section of dead pixels most of the show.

Every picture I got seems to be of asses rather than faces, damn laggy camera.

I think this picture's going to get laser-eyed when I'm bored.

WOW, First U2 GA experience!

I arrived at 5pm the day before, and managed to grab front row center.

The whole inner circle issue seems to be a bit underplayed here, but it was huge. The amount of disrespect and aggressiveness of this man, Rex, was unmeasurable. We tried explaining what the issue was, and to call U2's security or SOMEONE from their staff, but they refused to listen. This man was so up his own ass with what he thought was right. Instead, they pulled in more Stadium, security members, and local police. They told us that if we did not get up and move, that we would be arrested.

(For the most part), we all banded together and sat down, refusing to move. There was yelling, arguing, people being escorted out, it was a complete mess.

I really think Dan (tattoo dan) needs to be thanked for this one. Even though Rex didn't listen to what the was saying, he took the time to logically, and calmly explain the situation. It may have not fully changed his mind, but with his confidence, listing of the names of U2's staff to contact, and overall "wanting to solve the problem" attitude might have bought enough time or convinced someone to ask for help. I'm going to go ahead and give him some of the credit for saving the pit, so thank you Dan, you did a great thing and it was appreciated to no end.

I'll be giving Sheri a call, thanks for the info!

Overall though, the GA procedure from giant mob to getting into the stadium was absolutely PERFECT. They made sure that everyone walked, no one ran, all the way down to the floor.

When the audience is weak, U2 isn't great either, the band is only as good as their audience. Shame, though. I haven't been to a U2 show where the performance seemed lackluster. If you're standing in the pit and the crowd isn't reacting, it can spoil the whole show, also for the fans.

Sad to hear that the concert was so chaotic in terms of security and sound.

I don't know about the pit itself, but the audience was definitely NOT weak. Maybe that's just my perception, but there you go. I don't know how Bono usually is because I've never been this close before, but he wasn't really interacting with the crowd at all save for when he was leading the arm waving, or when he picked a kid to come on stage after TUF.

Hey I remember yall me and my friend were the people right in front of you (54 and 55) wearing the brown and white jackets... I remember your brother getting to the line barely in time

This being my first U2 concert I was nervous throughout the whole damn thing till U2 took the stage.... Was nervous if when the GA line started going in it would turn into a huge race, which it wasn't really... Getting into the stadium at first required your ticket to get scanned and for some damn reason the scanner in my line was broken and more and more people kept passing me till they started just tearing tickets... was able to power walk enough to make up lost time

Once inside the whole security inner circle fiasco happened... I lost my front row because I started leaving then resisted at first... I didn't start leaving till about 10 seconds before the issue was resolved, we were going back but then people started running in so we ran right back and still were pretty much at the front

And the show might've been the greatest moment of my life... I sang along to everything at the top of my lungs, danced, jumped, and pumped my fists whenever it felt appropriate (very often) and had a great great time... Was even more than I thought it would be... I don't have any complaints at all

And later on today I got Houston

I just read in several reviews that the audience was weak, that's all I know, I wasn't there.

And Bono usually interacts a lot with the crowd, I'm surprised to hear he was reserved. But then again I guess he's not having good days all the time.

i lost my voice yelling at this Rex guy from security and was screaming at Tattoo Dan that he instruct everyone to sit down and defy that idiots orders . That security guy got the Police involved and they took sides with the security guy because they did not know any better .

I was also screaming at fans who were leaving the circle to not leave and please sit down( over and over again ) . My heart was breaking for all of them.Quite a few i met in line, and made friends with , exchanging stories with etc etc and i was excited to know there were many first timers to this tour , and some seeing u2 for the first time ever.

Some were in tears leaving the circle . The police threatened arrest ( i could not believe what i was hearing !!!!) and they told Dan that would be their fate if they continued the act of defiance. The police put fear in some people and that sealed it as they many marched out of the pit . Security and the police were staring me down : me, the yelling mad men across the rail preaching defiance . LOL . i was convinced for a second i was going to get thrown out of the building .

This security guy was convinced the inner circle was REDZONE. I kept yelling at him ( from outer rail where i chose to go for this show) how wrong he was and demanding he check with u2 staff to get it right . He and the police just blew us off .

The look on some people`s faces when they filed in behind me outside the circle was gut wrenching .

the saving grace was that they had staggered the entrance of the lineup from outside . 200-300 at a time , in intervals, were let in the doors to avoid a stampede. So this was all happening during a break between the second and third wave .

The next wave was coming down the ramp and heading to the field . I told some people who had left pit NOW was there chance to get back in . Get back in front of this wave, crash the entrance of the pit all at once and storm the pit .

We cheered them on and people who were still defying the order to leave, and were still in the pit , all started cheering as this wave just came running in and encouraging them on

the police and security gave up it seems at that point, they lost control .....

i lost site of them and not sure what they concluded.....

the Rex guy passed me on the outer rail as he was talking to all the security guys out there after the Muse set , and i realized it was him just a second too late as he walked away . i would have tore a strip off him had i had the chance

We had a great time at the show....it was our first U2 concert! We had seats in section 143, so there weren't any sound or security issues for us. The only issue I had was my friends being late and having to wait on them since I had all the tickets....but we got to see all of Muse, just didn't get to see that much of the stadium like I had wanted.

Our seats were a little behind the stage on Edge's side and it was a little disappointing that the guys didn't really come around there often, but that's all right. I got a lot of pics of their backsides. And, lots of pics of Edge on the bridge and one of Adam when he came over to our side.

The crowd around us wasn't lackluster at all. Everyone was cheering and singing along to every song and dancing around. It didn't seem like the rest of the crowd was lackluster either, from what we could see of the floor, people were jumping around and dancing there too. The Dallas socialite crowd was definitely in attendance, I saw them walking around, but the people around us seemed to be definite U2 fans and were having a great time.

We did notice the Bono thing at the end of the show....it was weird and from our seats we couldn't really tell what was going on...just that he went ot talk to the tech and was holding his left side.

Anyway....it was an awesome show for me!!!
