After watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette over the years, I have come to the conclusion that this is not about finding love, getting married, etc...
It's a game. That's all it is.
All these men and women are all competing againt each other to see who can get the "hot girl" or "hot guy." It's like being back in high school.
The Bachelor or Bachelorette is picking from a group of people. These people have to do whatever it takes to be attractive to the Bachelor or Bacherlorette.
Remember the show Survivor, which was the first reality show of this genre back in 2000? Well, the Bachelor/Bachelorette is the same thing.
In the end, someone has to win the contest. When that person wins, he or she feels like they won the contest. They don't think, "Oh, I am in love and I will marry you and spend the rest of my life with you." They are like, "Yes, I beat out 25 guys (or girls) and I won. Yippy, I won.
"
It's all a game. A game about who is the most attractive person to that particular Bachelor or Bachelorette. It's not about love.
And we are all suckers for watching this show.
