If you only have to deal with it once every few weeks it's tolerable...commuting on the King streetcar every day though is a whole other story.
I took the 504 every day in the winter until this year (out if TO for a bit). Thankfully I ride the eastern part of it and usually got a seat. It used to short turn half the time though....oh the rage. Holy fuck. But then they added a single streetcar, and it never happened. I actually miss the 504. Great view over Riverdale park...

But yeah, the city is getting better to cycle in. It couldn't really have gotten worse.

How did a US election thread turn into public transit talk? Is this the most off-topic a thread has ever been?

TTC is brutal.
It's not the TTC's fault that the city refuses to remove parking on King during rush hours or give the streetcars their own dedicated signals...by yeah. I know what you mean. I could bike to work and back in the time I spent on the streetcar. But at least TO has transit worth complaining about.

I think it started from news about Hillary having trouble with riding subway ( i forgot the details but Michelle Bachmann sure responded pretty quickly) and the statement from Bernie who said you need to use tokens to ride subway in NYC, which isn't true anymore. I think I have turned one of SOI/SOE discussion thread into off-topic chaos that BVS hated so it shouldn't be the rare case of off-topicness, right?

I had some tacos in San Antonio the other day. One of the best I've had.

King St should just be TTC only. Put cab stands on Spadina John Brant and Portland facing Richmond/Adelaide and the businesses are happy.

The new 518 streetcar will hopefully improve things too. They'll be running the new long streetcars on King from Dufferin to Cherry starting in June (? Soon anyways).

I took the opportunity to mention tokens are the most common form of TTC payment besides passes and that set the snowball rolling downhill.

He was aghast when all 3 of us said they weren't that good.
The drive through Tijuana was interesting though.

I'm going back to So Cal in August for first time since then (aside from layover at LAX on way to Maui on my honeymoon), so any good taco recommendations (will be staying in OC, hitting Disney, SD Zoo and possibly Universal) are welcome.

At least it'll get the thread off of mass transit talk and on to taco talk.
LOL. The best tacos I've ever had were from sketchy shack in Ensenada.

I like Guisados in Boyle Heights.

Oh wow. Had no idea you live there! I was there for work. Probably will be traveling there frequently this year. Ate at Pappasitos. Probably nothing special but better than what we have in Wisconsin!

If I have learnt anything from this thread lately, it's that I definitely shouldn't look for jobs in the US. As somebody who can't drive, one of the reasons why I live in Melbourne is because it has easily the best public transport in Australasia, and probably the Southern Hemisphere. Melburnians complain about it all the time, but if you live in the inner or middle suburbs you simply don't need to own a car - and it's often quicker to take the tram or train, or to walk.

Reading about transport in the US makes it sound like an absolute nightmare, as someone who's well accustomed to taking the train (and the occasional bus) much of the time.
