I just found this!! I've always wanted to see this piece of video of U2 playing (one time only) Womanfish. This is apparently a song they worked on the run up to "The Joshua Tree" album, and this is the only time it was ever played live and then a rough version of "I Trip Through Your Wires" is played. There is a second part to this video which has them playing "Knocking On Heaven's Door". Great stuff from early 1986, enjoy!!!

Has the Edge ever played a more skittish guitar? I have always hoped that this song (studio version) would show up on a box set or something....could be very interesting to hear! That and "She's Gonna Blow Your House Down" which are my two favorite (never released) songs by U2.

Such a funny song... Bono getting so into it, doing his Gloria shouts...

here is me playing guitar to a little over 1/2 the song.

***due to my shitty computer microphone you're gonna have to TURN DOWN the volume before playing it to avoid the "piercyness" of the quality***

fill in the YSI and remove space between down and load

so why is it called Womanfish? A mermaid

"Hangman hang, Hangman hang for me
Hangman hang, Hang from your tree "

I was thinking this was Jesus, am I wrong?

patti don't ask it was 1986 Bono and who knows where his head was at the time....I always found it interesting that he corrected himself when he said "it's about a mermaid I met...uh, we met in America". :hmm:

Scoop I got and I must say you ain't half bad! Great stuff, I must say I have more appreciation for the Edge's guitar in that song now. Maybe his most visceral guitar part ever...and it's an UNRELEASED gem!!

Thanks!

Wow, I'd never heard that song before. Bitchin'. I like the early version of Trip Through Your Wires, too. underrated song.

Wow, that was an amazing, and the early version of Wires is at least as good as the released version. Très bien.

Well the lyrics to this version of "Trip" kinda suck, but the abrasive guitar is killer!! They should put these songs on a B-side of a future single...Yeah!!

Thanks for the youtube link. I had never seen the video for it before. Great fun and a lot of energy there! Anybody have a .wav audio file for it?
