1. Cut in a hole in the box
2. Sorry, ass
3. No love for Santana DVX?

Make Born to Run your first priority.

I own Greatest Hits, The Rising, Magic, Devils & Dust, and Working On A Dream but it has hit me in the last week that my collection is missing some serious classic credibility.

I think I'll go with Born To Run and Murmur first and then make my way chronologically from that.

Things I learned from a Rock Band party this last weekend
1. I cannot sing like Frank Black
2. The last half of the chorus to Jimmy Eat World's 'Sweetness' is "with a little sweet and simple numbing me", not "but the sweetness will not be concerned with me"
3. I cannot sing like Rob Zombie
4. Wonderwall is 30x more difficult to play on Rock Band guitar than a real guitar
5. My friends cannot sing like Isaac Brock
6. Despite rarely listening to them any more, I can still remember AFI songs word for word
7. I cannot sing like Ian Astbury
8. Everyone wants to play 'More Than a Feeling', no one wants to sing 'More Than a Feeling'
9. I cannot sing like the lead singer of Hot Hot Heat
10. The Clash aren't as well known as I seem to think they are
11. Pixes aren't as well known as I seem to think they are
12. Weezer isn't as well known as I seem to think they are
13. Listening to a Mormon girl trying to edit herself while singing the lyrics to songs she didn't previously know were dirty is hilarious

I've experienced many of these in playing Rock Band. I've only played it about a dozen times, but these ring true.

Unpopular opinions relating to the White Album:

1. The second half is FAR superior to the first.
2. Taken as a whole, it's nowhere near their best album.

Great songs from The White Album that render the notion of it not working "as a whole" irrelevant (in no order):

1. Happiness is a Warm Gun
2. I'm So Tired
3. Dear Prudence
4. Helter Skelter
5. Mother Nature's Son
6. Cry Baby Cry
7. Yer Blues
8. Blackbird
9. Rocky Raccoon
10. Glass Onion
11. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
12. Why Don't We Do It In The Road?
13. Julia
14. Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except For Me & My Monkey
15. Sexy Sadie

Songs from the White Album that are either inferior to nearly everything the Beatles had recorded before or since, or make me want to puncture my eardrums, rendering the idea of taking the album "as a whole" a pipe dream:

1. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
2. Wild Honey Pie
3. The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill
4. Don't Pass Me By
5. Revolution 9

I don't cue up Revolution 9 for kicks, but have a little perspective. This was the world's most popular band doing some pretty experimental stuff (in the pop world, at least) with sound collage. Even if it alienated the average listener, I don't think it's a stretch to say it inspired many others. It's not as if they released it as a single or something, they buried it near the end of the album where it would just be part of the overall experience.

Agreed on Ob-La-Di and Wild Honey Pie. Don't Pass Me By is too innocuous to be that offensive, and I like the saloon sound of it, the segue out of Raccoon being perfect.

Bungalow Bill is one of the lesser Lennon tracks on here, and I can understand why the sing-a-long chorus would be grating to a lot of people. Great lyric, though, and John's vocal on the verses really do it for me.

It is also true that Revolution 9 is miles ahead of any of the shit John and Yoko put together during their Two Virgins/Life With The Lions/Wedding Album period. It's far more musical and layered than anything from those albums.

However, I don't actually enjoy it, so I definitely consider the...composition a weak link. I'll give them credit for placing it where they did though.
