The early material is pretty much drone doom (i.e. doom metal, which is already slow and plodding, played at an even more slow and plodding pace), but recent material has incorporated shoegazy and ambient post-rock stylings too. I've seen some people call it avant-garde doom pop. I like drone doom shoegaze, myself.

For most people, Conqueror. They only have three albums, and Pale Sketches isn't really a true album. But there are shitloads of EPs; the Silver EP is worth it for Star alone, and the Eluvium/Jesu split EP is worth it for The Stars That Hang Above You.

I personally prefer the self-titled first album over Conqueror, since it's more drone doomy. Loooong heavy droning songs with faint, distant vocals. I used Friends Are Evil in DI IV.
