Why? Because he took away something of value as a punishment after finding his juvenile son engaged in an illegal activity??? I think Dad made a brilliant choice.
The kid was 15, and almost every 15 year old smokes pot at one point.

I dunno, it just sounds like more than just a slap on the wrist.

If the Dad had wanted to be a real dick, he could have reported the kid to the police. That would have been more than 'just a slap on the wrist'. And maybe I'm reaaaaal out of touch, but I don't buy the 'almost every 15yr old smokes pot'.

I'm getting GH3 + a Wii for Christmas.

I'd better make a new combination for my marijuana safe.

Absolutely! Dad overreacted, but he made a sweet profit from it.

I'd like to meet the fucking sap who bought a video game for 9K.

And, oh yeah, 15 year olds smoke pot. Know it and deal with it.

I'm fully aware of that, but thanks for the advice. What I took exception to in that statement was 'almost every' 15 yr old smokes pot... thereby meaning it should have been OK for this kid to be doing the same.

It's the the old 'but everybody else is doing it!' argument that teenagers (including myself) have been making since the beginning of teenagers. And it doesn't fly.
