me: hi, my laptop isn't recognizing my power cord.
geek: well, you probably have spyware or a virus.
me:
no, I ran those checks already. I need you to tell me if I need a new power cord or if the power jack is defective
geek: wellllll, I suggest you take this home and run the virus....
me: (interrupting): I did that. would a virus make the computer not recognize the power cord?
geek: no.
me: okay, what do I do?
geek: send it in---
me: (interrupting again): wait, you guys don't have a laptop power cord that you could plug in to see if it's my computer or the cord?
geek: no.
me: really? that seems insane. you don't have laptop power cords back there?
geek: no.
me: so you have to send it in for repair when all i might need is a new cord?
geek: yes, but it's covered by your warrantee.
me: how long will this take, i have to use it.
geek: on average, 2-3 weeks
me: what??!?!
geek: well, that's average. it could come back sooner.
me: *grumble* it better come back with all my stuff on it.
geek: oh, do you want to back up your data?
me: yeah, that'd be good
geek: that's $89.
me:
what?! how is that not covered by my warrantee? that's crazy!
geek: well, you don't have to.
me:
geek: I’ll start the paper work.

Since my desktop is bunk I'm over at my parents house picking up my brother's since he now has a laptop.
