Tanzania trip

So, Ellen and I have returned from three weeks in Tanzania. We did and saw so much, there's not time to describe it all, so I'll post some of my favorite pictures....

The view of Mount Meru (3rd highest in Africa) from the Catholic hostel in Arusha

Our group (20 students, 2 profs, 1 assisant, some guides)

Ellen and I in front of Lake Victoria near the border of Uganda

A waterfall at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro

Mt. Kilimanjaro

Me with an orphan at a Lutheran orphanage/social services program in Lushoto, a town high up in the mountains

Wow - I know like one of you guys. From the South Africa trip's pictures I seem to know almost half of them. You must be the uncool group.

KIDDING, of course. The trip looks amazing. I always think that I can't afford to do one of those interims, but then I see the pictures and think, "Really, who cares if I can't afford it - I'm going anyway." There's always next year.

1. In that second picture the "some guides" is really the Regional Commissioner (like a state governor) of the Manyara Region.

2. pictures von mir:

Our plane from Amsterdam to Kilimanjaro, because we're nerds:

This one's funnier if you can read it, but one of the rules is "Do not fall off the waterfalls!"

Can't say they didn't warn you (at the top of the waterfalls):

On the way to Lushoto:

Our professor (in white t-shirt) making a stump speech (I don't remember about what ) to the Maasai women's market (seriously, the man should run for Parliament ):

So we thought maybe we'd better get out of the way of the elephant:

Cheetahs doing...stuff...I guess:

Oldupai Gorge. I think I was the only one in our group nerdy enough to be interested in this one

I think this is in Serengeti (and I think it's funny ):

Cacia trees from below:

Maybe you're the loser and we're all the cool ones and we're so much cooler than you that you don't even know us.
Yeah, I don't know where I was going with that.
