I kinda like the song......I can't stop listening to it!! My friend Felis told me it sounded like "One" in the background. And I was like WTF!!!! It's kind of growing on me......

I don't think it's really a scandal...

I have to say, I like the song. Craig David performed it on some MTV show, and sang the first few verses of 'One' over the music instead, before switching into 'Walking Away.' And like Samantha Puff said, Bono has sung the first few verses of 'Walking Away' during a U2 concert. Craig David is a good singer, it could be worse... Britney could have tried to sing 'The Fly' or something.

I'm so glad you mentioned this, Mona! I thought the reason I heard One in Walking Away was because I had U2 on the brain. But I guess it turns out that my ears were correct. Anyway, I saw an interview with Craig David a while back, and he mentioned being friends with Bono, so I don't think Bono/U2 minds Craig's usage of One.

Here is an old article that was around in the fall of 2000... I never did find out if Bono was serious about the remixing of Walk On... all I know is that it never happened.

Bono has invited Craig David to weave his magic on a track by the
Irish superstars.

The U2 frontman jotted a note to the 19-year-old singer during a live
radio session for London station Capital FM after hearing UK garage
star David's version of their song One.

Bono - who recently had a number one with comeback single Beautiful
Day - says he has fallen in love with the Mobo Award-winner's song
Walking Away.

He said: "We've got a tune on our new album called Walk On and it's
the wrong tempo for what's going on with UK garage and that, but it's
the right feel, the right soul, and I was wondering whether him and his
mates might do a remix of it."

His note said: "Craig, love your Walking Away. Check Walk On on our
new CD. Maybe you and your mates could do a remix. It is the wrong

Yah I don't think it was ripped off. In fact I don't really hear any revelence to One. Just maybe the two notes at the beginning. Anyways, if Craig planned this, Bono should be cool about it. Look at Bono, he's always adding other people's lyrics to U2 songs, and that's one of the highlights of a U2 concert. My 2 bits.
