U2 Still Rumored for Glastonbury
Michael Eavis, organizer of the annual Glastonbury music festival, announced that there will be no festival in 2006. "Every fifth year since 1987 we've taken it off - it's like a fallow year in farming terms," he told the BBC. "It's a good chance for the cows, the farm, the farm workers and villagers to recover, so they come back the year after the fallow year with renewed energy, strength and imagination."
The site will use the year-off to build a reservoir on the farm to provide water for future festivals.
The 2005 festival, expected to be headlined by U2 and Prince, will feature noise patrols to appease villagers. Details of how to apply for tickets will be announced shortly.
