@all and especially edge3: I need help for my list.

Who has the chart run for bomb after the position #140? After that, I don't know how many weeks it was out of the Top 200 and when it came back at #196?

Who has the portuguese chart run of the bomb or a link to find it?

Please check if the rest of the list and the figures are ok. Thanks for the help

Ok thanks. I have now the complete chart run of Denmark, Austria, Sweden, Norway and Tchech Republik which weren't complete in the list I've posted above.

I hope to find the Portuguese chart run and the the last positions of UK, the rest should be ok.

There will be a little special on u2tour.de after one year of the bomb in the charts. There will be some details of the chart run in Germany (Singles + Album) and maybe I'll post the list.

@edge3: What are the last official sales figures you have?

USA: 2,890,000 (what is the last official figure?)

UK: 1,192,000 (is that true?)

Japan: 242,764 (last news we had)

World: 8.188.000 (from mediatraffic)

HTDAAB is now up to #53 on Amazon.com. This is probably due to the sales of the DVD and the offer for free shipping for orders over $25, plus the sale price for HTDAAB at $9.79. Regardless, the DVD buzz, the tour, OOTS video commercial, and the relatively fast start that OOTS is off to on radio should be enough to get HTDAAB back into the BB Top 200 this week. If U2 gets enough high profile Grammy nominations, this may be the beginning of a sustained run for the album that could last through Christmas, and then any big Grammy awards could result in a 3rd and likely final run for HTDAAB in February.

The other factor could be a hit single, but U2 have done virtually nothing to promote radio play, and while they may get to the top of the charts on Triple A Rock radio, that won't do anything for sales. OOTS would have to cross over to mainstream radio, which is sadly a longshot, to have an impact on album sales. Time will tell, though, and stranger things have happened.

I will at least make a prediction for HTDAAB this week: #174 on the BB Top 200. Is that too optimistic?

Good news from itunes US and amazon.com

albums 100-itunes
43-HTDAAB
93-JT

amazon.com
39-HTDAAB
77-BO 80-90

about australia, japan and south america: do u think that 4 leg could improve a lot the bomb's sells in those countries?
It's correct that bomb is the u2's album that sold more than others in japan? and the second is Pop?
And do u think that specials tv on Cbs (for jhonny cash and 60 minutes) and the dvd specials in Uk could help Bomb in charts uk and Us?

Depends on how accurate Amazon.com is in predicting chart position on the Billboard 200. Last week I believe BOMB was in the top 100 on Amazon.com, but it did not make the Billboard 200. The 60 minutes effect won't be felt on this weeks chart, it will be felt on next weeks.

While there are several different promotion initiatives going on at the moment, it gets harder during the Christmas season for an older album to rechart. It will likely take more than the usual 5,000 copies sold to rechart.

Right now, I don't think will see BOMB back on the top 200 chart unless it gets a large number of nominations for the Grammy's the first week of January. Grammy nominations and Grammy wins at this point are the only things that will push the album back on and up the chart.

UK: 1,192,000 (is that true?)

Japan: 242,764 (last news we had)

World: 8.188.000 (from mediatraffic)

USA : 2,877,000 up to & incl. week 47 : 2,156,000 in 2004 + 721K up to this point in 2005 (100% accurate source from Hanboo at UKMIX)

UK : I've been tracking / studying it's weekly sales v.carefully & incl. this week the total figure should now be 1,195,000 (i'm certain it sold 860K last year, not 855K). I don't have it's positions outside of the top 200 but, from the official YTD figures i saw at UKMIX, it was selling about 800 copies per week in the 6 weeks between week 140 & 196 (when it was outside the top 200). It's also been off the top 200 for the last 2 weeks but i'm pretty sure it's not too far off & so has still sold about 1,000 copies for each of these 2 weeks. Also, i think it might have returned this week though i won't know untill Thursday / Friday.

Japan : Last figure i had was 244K but that was a LONG time ago so 250K is now more accurate.

World : Mediatraffic figure of 8.188M is correct but they only track 90-94% of total sales & they haven't tracked / included any sales (to this 8.188M figure) since Bomb dropped off their chart 11 weeks ago...which is why it has now sold 9M.

Thanks for the info edge3. Do you have the chart run of the bomb in UK? I don't know which week it re-entered the charts at #196?!

Good to see it still holding well in France...

The UK chartrun you posted was spot on except it's been out of top 200 for the last 2 weeks (after it re-enterd at # 196). So here's how it should now look :

UK : 1, 1, 1, 3, 4, 14, 12, 10, 11, 17, 18, 14, 10, 12, 26, 26, 27, 34, 40, 46, 52, 58, 60, 72, 66, 50, 33, 17, 24, 25, 34, 39, 49, 57, 66, 73, 80, 110, 131, 140, 0 (out of Top 200), 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 196, 0 , 0, ?*

*don't know about this week yet but overall album sales were the highest of the year so far (14% higher than last week). So even if it's only at # 300 it probably still sold close to / another 1,000 copies.

Italy: HTDAAB 86 (77), not too bad because this week there has been 17 new entries ahead bomb.

Italian chart run:
1-1-4-5-5-5-3-3-4-8-
6-10-9-8-8-9-15-14-21-17-
16-17-17-26-33-33-44-42-41-39-
41-33-29-17-10-10-18-22-14-22-
21-37-41-47-61-97-63-92-89-77-
86

ABOY 16 (8).

Italian chart run:
2-5-8-16-

SYCMIOYO re-entries at number 47 in the single chart.

Any signs of OOTS charting on any format? I'd really like to have another hit song from this album.....in the U.S.

As SOLDATTI just stated, the BOMB is back on the Billboard 200 this week at #196! It will likely increase next week as well as the 60 minutes program will then take effect. BOMB has now sold over 2,903,000 copies according to Soundscan figures in the United States!

Billboard numbers

It's already been noted by SOLDATTI that HTDAAB is at 196 on the BB Hot 200 Album Chart. Other charts where U2 made the cut include:

B/O 1980-90 re-enters Pop Catalog chart at 19
B/O 1980-90 re-enters Top 200 Comprehensive album chart at 158
Vertigo 2005: Live from Chicago debuts at #72 on BB's European Top 100 Albums Chart (guess DVD's are live albums today...)

ABOY is the only single on Billboard this week, rising 18 spots on the European Top 100 Singles chart to 64 in it's sixth week.

As for the prospects for OOTS making onto Billboard, I do think it will chart on BB's Adult Top 40 chart, doing better than COBL's three week run. If it crosses over to modern rock, then it has a chance to crack the Hot 100 like Sometimes did...but if it crosses over to mainstream radio and makes it to the Top 5 of the Adult Top 40 chart, then it has a chance for a decent run on the Hot 100. With only a promo CD and no video, I admit this is a longshot. The song is off to a fast start though, even if it is just on the traditional U2 friendly formats.

Happy T-day to everyone...I'll watch for any big gains made by OOTS on radio charts and keep you posted.

Those Billboard numbers are really quite impressive... & Best Of 80-90 actually increased by 104% last week with sales of 9,700 ! It's total US sales are now 2,608,800

& the rest of U2's back catalogue sold another 10,300 copies

thx again to Hanboo at UKMIX for the info.
