Exactly.
The RS are probably the only band around whose albums sell around the same as their tours!

Actually the Rolling Stones Tours sell considerably more than the albums do.

Sting2, I was tempted to say that their tours sell actually better than their albums but I was unsure about Steel Wheels and Vodoo Lounge whose sales were ok I guess (several million copies worldwide), maybe matching corresponding tours´ sales.

I like the Stones (love some of their stuff actually) but really, they should have retired in the early ´80´s.
It´s nice to see U2 haven´t gone down the same path and are still able to come up with RELEVANT music after 25 years of their first album release.

Steel Wheels sold 5 million worldwide, Voodoo Lounge 5.5 million, Stripped sold 3 million, Bridges To Babylon 3.5 million and Forty Licks 7 million.
In US, The Stones have sold 20.9 million albums during the Soundscan era (post 1991) and 7 million tickets according to USA Today article of last Thursday.

My information from Billboard and soundscan shows that Voodoo Lounge only sold a little over 4 million at most. In fact, when adding up shipments from all the various countries around the world as an advertisement in Billboard did in 1995, the total shipment figure only came out to 3.8 million for Voodoo Lounge. For Bridges To Babylon, the album is only certified for 1 million copies sold in the USA and Soundscan recently reported total sales at 1,061,000 in the USA. In Europe Bridges only did 1 million in sales. Its a rather generous estimate to say that Bridges has sold over 3 million copies worldwide when its well known that the Stones over the past couple of decades have relied on the North American market to sell nearly half of their albums.

For the "40 Licks" album, while it has done well in the United States and Canada with combined sales of 2.5 million, it has only sold 1 million copies in all of Europe. Rest of the World sales would account for at most another 1 million, which gives it a grand total of 4.5 million sold worldwide. A 4.5 million figure is also in keeping with mediatraffic figures which report a total of 3,832,000 copies sold for "40 Licks".

Great results Vox!
As for HTDAAB sales, do you think it will hit the 300,000 mark anytime soon?
