If they release the numbers in the next two weeks, I'll be pleased. I'm sure Moscow and Istanbul attendance were above 40,000. In fact, I think Moscow was ~62,000 - according to U2.com, and Istanbul ~50,000.

I wonder why AC/DC has only 28 shows listed on the top 25 tours. If you count the number of shows they played from Nov 22 2009 to Nov 20th 2010 it was 45 concerts. That means they are missing 17 Stadium shows which would put them at the number 1 spot. Bon Jovi is also missing 4 shows I believe as well.

I found this article at billboard.biz, posted some days ago regarding 2010 in touring :

2010 in Touring: Tough Times on The Road | Billboard.biz

I quote a passage of great importance regarding u2 360 boxscores:

This was the lowest number of shows reported since 2003, the lowest worldwide gross reported since 2005, but only the lowest attendance since 2008. If there is a silver lining, this may be it: Fans still went to see shows-and things could have been much worse.

There is a big caveat to all these Boxscore numbers, and it has everything to do with Live Nation, the world's largest promoter.

In June, Live Nation Entertainment opted to stop reporting box-office data to Billboard Boxscore. While we received a substantial number of reports on Live Nation shows from other sources, including agents, managers and venues, the impact of the world's largest promoter not reporting the bulk of its shows clearly can be seen.

In fact, it's surprising this didn't have a bigger impact, considering that Live Nation reported 46% fewer shows than in 2009.

On this weeks Billboard Boxscore, Live Nation reported over 30 shows from the band RUSH consisting of boxscores dating all the way back to June 2010 through October 2010. These shows started two months earlier than U2's this year so if Live Nation are reporting concerts this late than perhaps we will still see U2's boxscores from Europe!

I guess they're re-releasing them, they were released last month. Or making some corrections. I think we will see U2 boxscores at least before January.

Bon Jovi are a joke band
No one takes them seriously at all
You can see how desperate they are for critical acclaim
They are not in the same league as U2 at all

For a start, all their tunes are pretty shit

Anyone want to guess what the numbers have been for the Australian shows?
Apparently nearly 115,000 tickets have been sold for Perth (which given the size of the city, is VERY VERY good). I would say Brisbane had a total of about 90,000, Melbourne about the same as Perth, and Sydney somewhere around 140,000.

How did Sydney go from 215,000 in 2006 to 140,000 in 2010?

3 shows vs 2 shows accounts for about 25,000 of tickets given staging configurations.

photos show a lot of lower bowl seats unsold (empty in blocks behind equipment) as well as blacked out seats in the upper levels, even for the first show.

despite the stadium having a lot of seats, the gradient is exceptionally low and behind extra speakers/soundboard probably knocked out more seats than usual.

even still, it is an strangely low number.

It's all only guesses at this point until we get proper figures (if that happens). But it seems likely there was 75-80,000 at Sydney 1 and from reports on here maybe 65,000 the second night?
Sydney seems to have suffered this tour, the other cities are either close to Vertigo's demand or level with it.

Let's take a look at the Australian/NZ tour, just in case we won't get any boxscores again.

Auckland
100,000 tickets in total, 50,000 each.

Melbourne
120,000 tickets in total, 60,000 each.

Brisbane
~90,000 tickets in total
1st show: 55,000
2nd show: 35,000

Sydney
140,000 seems too low. The seating capacity of the stadium is 83,000 and there's a huge field. Assuming 25,000 of the tickets were GA tickets, that would mean that 50,000 seated tickets have been sold, which means 40% of the stadium would have been empty. Pictures show empty and covered parts but that's not 40% of the seating capacity. I think 160,000 is more realistic.

Perth
120,000 tickets in total, 60,000 each.

360° Tour New Zealand/Australia
Total Gross: $67,850,000 (?)
Total Attendance: 590,000
Average ticket price: $115 (?)
Average Attendance: 59,000
Average Gross: $6,785,000
shows: 10

They did slightly better this time than they did 4 years ago:

Vertigo Tour New Zealand/Australia
Total Gross: $45,253,365
Total Attendance: 528,412
Average ticket price: $86
Average Attendance: 58,712
Average Gross: $5,028,152
shows: 9

Of course they could not top AC/DC

Black Ice Tour New Zealand/Australia
Total Gross:$93,458,404
Total Attendance: 737,392
Average ticket price: $127
Average Attendance: 52,671
Average Gross: $6,675,600
shows: 14

Despite all the discussions about ticket sales in Brisbane and Sydney, U2 360° still ranks second in the list of most successful AUS/NZ tours of 2010, being far more successful than Metallica's World Magnetic Tour and Bon Jovi's The Circle Tour.

It had been 9 years since AC/DC played Australia with the stiff upper lip tour and when they played there on the black ice tour in 2010 they hit the market at a perfect time. It had only been 4 years since U2 played in Australia and they hit the market at the worst possible time with at least 22 other major artists playing in december. still a great run for both of them.

130 000 according to the Sydney Morning Herald...

Thousands of cheap seats: U2 fails to sell out

The more I think about it, the more I'm blown away by the 120,000 number in Perth. Does anyone even come close?

MJ did 3 nights at burswood on HIStory 14 years ago. ACDC did 2 nights outdoors(90,000?), but don't know the numbers. Pink did 70,000 at Burswood. Dire Straights did close to 60,000 in 1985 at the Entertainment center.

Could someone be so nice and repost the attendance estimations for individual shows in Europe 2010 (sources were various media - newspapers or u2.com)... I know it was posted somewhere on the old 360 topic that is closed now, but I couldn't find them...

ACDC was 97,000, I just found their boxscores yesterday.

The U2 numbers are extraordinary when you consider the size of Perth (slightly bigger than Adelaide) and only one third the size of Melbourne. Then again U2 have only played one other show there in the last 20 years and that was to only 14,000 people. So nearly everyone there this time had never seen U2 before. The 120,000 figure is probably just an estimate based on the size of the venue but apparently you could still get tickets show day so just to be safe I'm going to go with 110,000.
This is what I think:

Melbourne - 110,000
Brisbane - 90,000
Sydney - 140,000
Perth - 110,000

After Sydney 1 Tripple M were saying U2 just rocked more than 85,000 which seemed about right. Looked about 5,000 less for the second show.

According to Pollstar u2 came in 3rd place this year behind Bon Jovi and AC/DC with a gross of $160.9 million to 32 concerts for 2010. If this is true, then that means they only grossed $29.4 million (which I don't buy at all) with their Aus/NZ concerts because Billboard reported they made $131.5 million from their 22 shows in Europe. I wish Live Nation would release their numbers down under so we can see what the true numbers are.

The 160.9 figure has to be wrong. What´s the average gross for a 360 tour concert? 5-6 million? Then the grand total should be around 180 M, good for the second spot.

We don't have the full Pollstar ranking yet. Maybe not all shows are included for some reasons. $29.4 million for the Australian dates is just not true, even if we take the lowest estimations possible:

Auckland 100,000
Sydney 130,000
Melbourne 100,000
Brisbane 90,000
Perth 110,000

Total tickets: 530,000
Average ticket price: $85
It would still be a total of $45,000,000 and we all know the average ticket price was higher and they sold more tickets.

What, so they only sold a total of 293,485 tickets? Rubbish.
An average of just over 29,000 per gig? Rubbish.
Christ, even Brisbane 2, the smallest gig of the tour had about 35,000.
Let's see some individual box scores.

Average Tickets: 73,012

Total Tickets: 1,606,269

Shows: 32

some serious problems with Math
