It seemed a little unhinged only because it had to be,
But I think I really hit something last night.
It was in the way a bird breaks in flight;
It was in the anatomy of David Bourne pulling together tight
Just to loosen it all up for me
And separate sound from the moment of need.

I don?t understand (like) the way things are,
So I make it up and I make out fine.
You fuck up your sense and your art, you fuck up your mind
Just to get a hold on what you can?t have otherwise.
I said it would never happen again, but my words don?t hold well.
I was promised to you the day you start bleeding for someone else.

You watched me go too far off track
When I just wanted you to push me back
And back into myself.

Your daylight stays into my evening
And that has everything to do with it.
We save up our whole life to be kids
In a time where fire kisses its own lips.
I can?t die, but I can?t be saved.
I just want to see the sky beneath me for a change.
