When the stars punctured the blackened sky
That?s when the rock star came out to play
Lanky frame, wild hair, and curvy lips
That told us the things we wanted to hear

That sweet friend of mine got sucked in
?He said he loves me?the rock star loves me!?
As I listened to her, I learned quickly
That support and skepticism don?t mix well

He squired her around metallic cities
Sidestepping trash and cameras
Then he continued on his rock star way
And left his gem in my jewelry box

?Watch her while I?m gone?take care of her, please?
I didn?t know if I could do it
But I couldn?t say no to the rock star
So innocent, pure, and tortured?so much like me

Alcohol and cigarettes are your friends
When you?re out on the road
Then the lovely women swoop in
You can?t change your rock star ways

You damn rock star
You broke her heart
You left me with the pieces
That your promises had once held together

But who can stay mad at the rock star?
I will just rewind and erase these times
I don?t want to be your friend
I just want to be your fan
