"the light"

the light so lonely
it burns
in a way that never
seems to cast shadows or doubt
i stand in the light,
as she shines to comfort the darkness

and she would shine
never afraid
of that looming darkness
no shadows...
except my heart
no shadows...
accept her heart

you reached into the light
to hold it against your heart
until the shadows opened up
and pools of bright rays,
thought they might have found
a place to shine
and for a moment...
you were touched

but now you're tangled
in darkness + shadows
and your heart is somewhere,
anywhere... between

and the light goes
and you can only watch it fade
along the red/orange horizon
you know it will shine again

and you creep back into the night
as the moons pulsates
with your beating heart
reflecting the dead
it taunts you
and you search the night
but the stars will never fall
and you will never touch the light again
