There are tons of photos around here from all eras so I'm sure everyone has seen him in makeup before, but people get worked up over EVERYTHING. His HAIR, his SHOES, his GLASSES... so this is no different. I'm sure if Bono announced that his favorite food is cheeseburgers there would be people yelling ooooohhh noooooze Bono is WRONG don't eat cheeezeburgers Bono pleeeze stop!!!
Oh and sorry I don't know how most people reacted to Macphisto personally, at the time I didn't pay attention, but when I did I thought it was amazing.

You're probably right...but it's FUN. Personally I'm getting more into the guyliner...Bono getting in touch with his feminine side. I wonder if he applies it himself. For some reason I hope not!

I think this article is funny, because they're saying that Bono is ditching his glasses for the eyeliner. Like they know whether or not he's going to wear it everyday and not just for stage. And I certainly don't think its a midlife crisis.

Speaking to the Herald, formal menswear specialist Louis Copeland said: "I think it's probably because he has a new album coming out. We're all getting a bit older so he's changing things up a bit.
"He obviously has advisors telling him what looks good. A rock star can get away with it, but for a fellow walking down the street it wouldn't work."
U2's new album No Line On the Horizon will be released on March 2.
Joe Glynn, owner of men's grooming salon GMALE in Ranelagh, said: "Personally, I don't think Irish men are ready for this look. We offer pretty much all treatments for men and we do eyelash tinting but it's not as popular as it would be in London.

I believe most of U2 fans - mainly female fans - liked and accepted the eyeliner very well. It was great for the album release, the media, magazine cover...
This is not the case. It´s just being a litlle ...hmmnn...different, unusual from his style. It seems he prefers a "clean" style, like Ali. (I´ve wondered what´s HER opinion about it..
)I can´t compare Macphisto with Bono´s style now. Macphisto was created to parody the devil. He just need to be Bono, would be enough.
OK - He´s a lead singer, but have you ever tried to imagine Larry, Adam and Edge with eyeliner ???
Probably Bono would laugh at them.
