Week 23

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
its strange it not been released to radio 1 yet as over the past 7 to 10 days Chris Moyles has been raving about how good the show was when he saw it in Dublin on his show all the time

Hmm just read an article from the sunday mail in scotland, it says the single isnt released until sept 7th, this could be the reason for lack of airplay i guess?

I guess so. This time around maybe U2 Management is designing a marketing campaign for Crazy which actually MAKES SENSE. Unlike Magnificent where the song hit the radio over a month in advance to the commercial release date.

It was still out there to buy, even if it wasn't officially out yet. It just didn't take off at all

A September release makes perfect sense to me as that is when they hit the US with the tour. It's also perfect timing for the start if Christmas season. Besides that, Magnificent is still being playd on the Brand New TV station around Europe.

not sure if this has been pointe dout bu tin UK, 18 singles actually rose from #154! last week (to #30) a rise in position of that magnitude and the tour isnt here till firday, i think this will outperform NLOTH easily in the next few weeks, top 10?

It rose to 40, NLOTH is what rose to 30

sorry, purely a typo. the point was it saw a massive rise.
this weeks rise so far hasnt been very big, but as someone pointed out if it wasnt for wacko's passing it NLOTH would be another 5spots up. hopefully sales will increase as the wembley shows approach, then throughout next weeks chart i would expect the peak.

I think one of the main peaks will be after the show broadcast, 25 stations, an estimate of 6 million people listening,

Sheffield. It will be on a lot of stations... the full list is lying around somewhere.

quite right _ but better than that I will be there, after the wafrm up at wrmbley of course Mike

ps still have a spare (cost) for 14/8 at wembley _ seated

I'm disappointed and surprised to see this drop.

I *finally* saw the Blackberry ad on TV just yesterday! And I saw it on the SyFy (formerly SciFi) channel. Given the relative obscurity of this cable station (compared to the big networks), I felt Blackberry and U2 were really branching out in anticipation of U2 coming to the U.S. And yet, the album drops.

I'm not sure what U2 would have to do to get "Crazy" to be a hit. If a TV spot doesn't do it, then what will?

A drop of just 500 copies could have caused that though, which is not that much.

NOLTH up to 67 on iTunes. It gets a big drop on Mon nights when all the new releases come out and then claws its way back as the week goes on. Same pattern for the last 3 weeks or so. Expect it to be in the mid/high 70's on next weeks BB200 if everything repeats itself.

Crazy up to 24 on iTunes Rock Songs today. Though only about the top 10 of that chart is on their top 100 overall.

Crazy up to 31 (from 37) on Billboards new Rock Songs Chart (which seems to be an airplay chart composite of their old AC, HAC, AAA charts.)

If sales between Gaga and U2 stay the same next week, Gaga will narrowly pass U2 next week for the #1 position. But with just a slight drop in Gaga's sales, and a slight increase in U2's, NLOTH could remain #1 for another week.

It may true that reason sales estimates by mediatraffic for NLOTH may not be accurate, but musiccharts is incorrect in putting The Fame ahead of NLOTH weeks ago. At the end of the day, both charts are both estimates, but I find mediatraffic over the course of the entire year, as well as the years before, to be more accurate. The race between U2 and Gaga is very tight right now, and musiccharts does not show that.
