Bono has covered his ass and gotten himself a day job... "elder stateman" };)~ while the rest of the boys are just going to count on their record sales to see them through retirement... man, are they gonna be bored....

I dont think they're ever "bored". They're always doing something or other to keep them busy.
 
The guys have plenty of cool things to do. It's just that what they do when they're not in the studio is not as high-profile as what Bono is doing when he's not in the studio. They seem to be happy, and isn't that what counts? This situation works very well because they are perfectly happy keeping a lower profile than Bono. It means more privacy for them. They like this.
 
That's not the way it is. They have been taking years between records for a long time now. Bono really hasn't been busy in politics before 1999. Oh yeah there was Live Aid and Ethiopia, but he was never going around to world leaders and taking to politicians before 1999. So they still had a long time between records when he wasn't doing that. That's not the reason it's taking so long.
