Original a capella kings the Persuasions will be returning to their hometown for an upcoming concert. Joe Russell & Co. will take the stage at BB King Blues Club & Grill on July 12. The five-man vocal harmony group will spotlight their latest Chesky Records release, The Persuasions Sing U2, which features their version of the rock group's classic tunes. Persuasions co-founder Jimmy Hayes says that tackling the U2 songbook proved to be a no-brainer for the vocal outfit. "We identified with this inner feeling of theirs that meant U2 songs were tailor made for us, and we just started singing along. You don't need no band, and the harmonies are all ready," he reveals. "I stripped my mind of preconceived ideas and listened to the essence of the song. It was a cosmic thing, the right combination of ingredients and expertise, spiritual as well as musical."
