The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I forgot about the fact that Winter is going to be in that movie that comes out in late February, which means we might get a taste of it before the album comes out.

U2's last March release...1997 - Pop

Single leaked (by one Interference) hit the 'net in December of '96...single hit the stores in late January of '97...:hmm:

My guess, new single...second week of January...there is a lot of secrecy involved with this CD...:eyebrow:

I, for one, like it...:D

late January (23rd)

the movie is called Brothers

No they didn't.

Discotheque made it's worldwide debut on the Dave Fanning Show at 8:30pm on Tuesday 7 January 1997.

I am supremely confident that the new single will also debut on the Dave Fanning Show. He's on holidays at the moment and I'm not sure when he returns. But I'll bet anything that the new song debuts around Wednesday in his first week back.

In the US it debuted at midnight via WBCN Boston

For what it's worth. I got this from U2miracle.com...
My Spanish is far from perfect, but it says that the new single will be there on 6 January and the album available on Itunes from Mid-February

No Line On The Horizon".

Unfortunately, you missed the first line where they're saying Happy December Fools day.
It was a joke, they fabricated the whole story.

So we may very well have two different-sounding "singles" before March 2. Cool. I'm intrigued by the Simon and Garfunkle reference from Q, which sounds very un-U2 to me.

Same thing in French:

No Line On The Horizon".

apparently U2 will be in San Francisco the 6th of Januari, the album will be available via itunes 2 weeks prior to cd release AND there will be 5 more songs available which are not on the album..

It's a particularly shitty joke because their scenario is not particularly absurd. They should have said Bono was leaving U2 to join the priesthood or something.

We should put some people in a coma and wake them up when the single is out, it would be a win-win situation.

yes, I was not online yesterday, but sometimes, these days, I don't think that's all that bad.
This place is going :coocoo:

I'm new here, but I guess this place went like this when HTDAAB was coming out

Maybe the new single will also be called New Years Eve. The long awaited prequel to New Years Day.

Think of the possibilities :hmm:

Fits together perfectly, thanks for that rosebud.

We'z gotz a matsch!

I know we all (mostly correctly) watch the past patterns with U2 releases, but for releases in general, the time between a first single release and album drop are narrowing quite a bit. Not to hose all of this down, but a first week of January single release for a first week of March album is a huge gap circa 2008/9.

it is changing- have noticed that the single tends to be released in phases- there will be an i-tunes release followed by a limited physical single release usually a week or two before the album comes out. In the UK anyway singles have become almost irrelevant nowadays

We have already been told the video for the single has girls with marching boots... ^

and we've already been told that there were long scenes with motorcycles shot, a blue screen sequence, yadda yadda yadda.

just because someone said something...
a) doesn't mean it's for the first single, could be a second or third
b) doesn't mean it'll ever be used, period
c) doesn't mean it's true

not to mention that u2 has in the past released different singles for different regions... with different videos to go along with them. bono gets thrown out of a van vs. bono's a crappy field goal kicker, etc. etc.

the movie that "winter" is in will be out before the album is out.

I think your (b) option is the only legitimate one considering that this came from U2.com (unless they were intentionally trying to mislead people). Also, the first single has always been universal.

And (b) is unlikely of course.
