I've seen it before, but, wanted to re-watch it.
Bill Pullman, who I like a lot, plays a very eccentric but brilliant private detective. Ben Stiller, in a more muted than usual role, plays his lawyer/assistant.
Directed and written by Jake Kasdan.
I lack the eloquence to review films properly, but, I enjoyed this movie a lot. I thought Pullman was excellent, and I thought that while the movie was not a classic whodunnit, it still had me guessing a bit at certain things. Also, just love how quirky Pullman's character was....and it was funny as well, very funny at times.

The dvd version of Deathproof was crap
I didn't even finish watching it, it's long, boring and missing Planet Terror which takes away from the whole experience . I don't know what I'll rate it, I'm just happy I was lucky enough to see it in the theater.

The main problem I had with Death Proof is that I didn't like any of the female characters and their dialogue just wasn't interesting. Compare it to Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, both of which have dialogue that sticks in the mind even after one viewing, and it's dire.
But the conversations between Zoe Bell and the other girl as they're deciding to and preparing for the car surfing is the absolute low point for me. I just wanted to slap them and QT for being so damn smug and try hard.
But having said all that the action scenes were brilliant. I'd love to see a fan edit of this film (like Star Wars Ep 1: The Phantom Edit) because there's a great half hour surrounded by 60 / 90 minutes of clag.

more milla jovovich the better , in fact she shouldve played jango fett in SW prequels , the final scene was a letdown , but if you like milla in all shapes and sizes + desert , joints and lots of makeup + some blood , it's a good " Flique "
and casino royale was based on a book , btw , and they took out smersh , bastards

300, Troy = what happens when Hollywood gets to film historical events/epic tales and fails. 
I'll avoid Alexander (I was considering it due to the director's fame), if for no other reason Colin Farrel is just as bad a casting for that role as Brad Pitt was for Achilles.
Gibson will never top Braveheart even if he may relentlessly try with the likes of Passion... and Apocalypto.

Bond movie ? I re-watched it last week. Even if it may sound like heresy to Connery/Moore fans, I'm really, really liking Daniel Craig. (and this from someone who liked Brosnan and grew up with Moore's Bond)
He qualifies the three "rules" for Bond for me: a charmer (just look at his scenes with Vesper Lynd), charisma and he has that aura of danger about him - you need to believe Bond is a killer. Perhaps most importantly, here is a Bond that can actually act.

I really dug Death Proof as part of Grindhouse, moreso than either Kill Bill movie, but still behind Jackie Brown, Reservoir Dogs, and of course Pulp Fiction.
Any scene with Kurt Russell completely drew me in, if there's more of him in the extended cut, that'd probably be a plus... unless it undermines his character.

I don't think anything could really "undermine" his character any more than what's already in the film. Suntman Mike is a washed-up, psychotic, pussy.

Well, undermine the set-up for his character.
Tarantino sets up all of the slasher movie conventions, but leaves Stuntman Mike's role vague, whether or not he is the slasher or the guy who will protect the girls from the inevitable slasher (Kind of like if you went into T2 not knowing Ahnuld was the "good guy"... if that's possible). The "See, now you're going right, but I'm going left" scene with Rose McGowan is pure fun, because it finally reveals the intent of his character and how he was playing everyone at the bar like cheap fiddles earlier.
I heard with the extended cut you see Mike taking pictures of the 1st set of girls while they go into some convenience store or something, which would ruin most of the intrigue for me at least.
I love when films/plays/etc... set up standard conventions, try and leave some red herrings in there to give you some disbelief, then when it turns out the way you initially expected, it's kind of a surprise. Hopefully that made some sense.

The convenience store scene in in the second half if I remember correctly, and makes him an even creepier dude (licking Dawson's foot I think?). And I know the lapdance scene has been added (huzzah) in the first half, along with maybe a few extra bits of dialogue here and there.

Ohhh, then someone told me the wrong info. The convenience store thing being in the 2nd half sounds like an upgrade, it needed more Mike.
Not sure how I feel about the lap-dance scene though; the missing reel gag was one of my favorites in that and Planet Terror.

I think the gag was more a benefit in Planet Terror, as it was an actual great work of comedy. In Death Proof it was more "Hey, you want to see hot New Yorker babe perform a lap dance? Well, SIKE. I'm about an hour through American Beauty right now, it took me a good 20-30 minutes to get into it but I'm really diggin' it now.

It's all about the context, that's where the argument lies... but when it's like "yeah, I didn't like American Beauty, so you can't see it." That's when I have a problem. Not a direct quote, but it's the general sentiment.
Just because you didn't see the merit in it, it doesn't mean I shouldn't have a chance to. The kid's always more liberal than the parent I guess, especially when it comes to film.
I shouldn't be complaining as much, I get my way with movies like 80% of the time now. It just so happens that the other 20% is all Scorcese and P.T. Anderson. It's my own form of teenage rebellion.
