An absolutely thrilling sonic experience, more so than a great collection of songs. It was smart not to release this under the U2 name, as (not to sound condescending, but...) most fans who fell in love with U2 for I Will Follow and Pride will probably have a hard time wrapping their heads around this one. As a Zooropa lover, I'm entranced by this album every time I play it. You really are a passenger as you listen, traveling to all sorts of strange and awesome new locales. Best of all, we aren't the only ones traveling; U2 seems to be as fascinated by the sights as the listener.

I listened to this just last week and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it as a whole (other than Elvis Ate America, which is just heinous).

I really haven't listened to it enough, though, to think about ranking it. I love Miss Sarajevo and Your Blue Room, and could pick Slug and Always Forever Now out of a lineup, but that's about it.

Couldn't put it better myself LM

My 5th favourite U2 record of all time after AB,TJT, TUF and Zooropa. I got into U2 in 1985 and I had no problem getting my head around this.

1. YBR- 10/10

2. Slug - 10/10

3. Miss Sarajevo 9.5/10

4. Theme From Let's Go Native 9/10

5. A Different Kind Of Blue 9/10

6. One Minute Warning 9/10

7. Theme From The Swan 9/10

8. Corpse 8.5/10

9. United Colours 8/10

10. Beach Sequence 8/10

11. Plot 180 8/10

12. Always Forever Now. 8/10

13. Ito Okashi 7.5/10

14. Elvis Ate America 7/10

Poor Elvis Ate America...

Just kidding, I don't have any pity for that heinous crime of a song.

Your Blue Room
Miss Sarajevo
Slug
Beach Sequence
Always Forever Now
Them From Let's Go Native
United Colours
One Minute Warning
Corpse (These Chains Are Way Too Long)
Plot 180
A Different Kind Of Blue
Theme From The Swan
Ito Okashi
Elvis Ate America

From Plot 180 on it is, like U2Girl said, a blur. The other songs before that are all great pieces of work. I like this album's ambient feel and layed back, relaxed mood. I always love listening to this on car trips and for going to sleep.

Underrated collection of material. I wouldn't quite call it a complete success, but I cherish it because I don't think U2 will ever do anything quite as "abstract" as this again. It's a peculiar record, one that I'm sure, for those who flippantly write U2 off, would be surprised to hear.

14) Elvis Ate America
13) A Different Kind of Blue
12) Theme From The Swan
11) Plot 180

8) Them From Let's Go Native
7) United Colours

2. Beach Sequence - Probably favourite semi-instrumental, just edging out Promenade
3. Your Blue Room

7. Plot 180
8. Theme From Let's Go Native
9. Theme From The Swan

12. A Different Kind Of Blue
13. Corpse - Not really a fan of the crackly/whip sound :crack:

looks like there's a clear divide here... most people's top six or seven being the same songs, just ordered differently.

i don't particularly love Passengers, but i love that it exists and that U2 is responsible for it. i also love the booklet, and the descriptions of the movies, like the one that goes for like six hours

3) Always Forever Now
4) Beach Sequence
(5. Viva Davidoff)

Like
5) Miss Sarajevo

"Heinous crime of a song"

I have only heard Mrs Sarajevo and Your Blue Room from this album. and Elvis ate America from the Unforgetable Fire, i believe if i'm not mistaken..so here it goes

1. Mrs Sarajevo
2. Your blue room

love both songs, but Sarajevo wins for the opera moments..

Elvis Ate America =/= Elvis Presley and America. Let us get this VERY straight.

what...

What am I seeing here?

1. Your Blue Room
2. Miss Sarajevo
3. Slug
4. Beach Sequence
5. Always Forever Now
6. A Different Kind of Blue

This is my clear Top 6. As some others have said, the rest kind of blur together and, honestly, there are a couple there that I can't tell apart off the top of my head. I think it's a strong album, though. And can be great if you're in the right mood. And Your Blue Room is one of the best things this band's ever touched.

1. Miss Sarajevo
2. Your Blue Room
3. Beach Sequence
4. Slug
5. Elvis Ate America
6. Theme From The Swan
7. A Different Kind Of Blue

Really hard to place the other songs in a position here so I'm leaving it at this. Not a very good album, but I'm glad they tried going full speed ahead with experimenting and not compromising with it at least once. However, now that it's done they should never go that far again.

Elvis Ate America is a HILARIOUSLY AWESOME song. I love the backing vocals that goes "Ahhlvis" ... The first time I ever heard it I was laughing hysterically.

... It's probably Bono doing a shit. :shh:

RESPECT.

I've heard the album like 3 or 4 times, I just can never remember which song is which. Unfortunately, my brain can never forget the disaster that is EAA

I meant with your commentary of EAA  For some reason I don't want to see it leave this thread alive.
