Belew joined KC in the 80's. Greg Lake (who went on to form ELP) was the original lead singer, and then John Wetton (who went on to form Asia) took over in the 70's.

I'm getting into it and I guess it finally clicked with me that "prog" does not define music in the same that "blues" would. I guess blues would be the backdrop or base (which is why I never thought Floyd was prog) whereas "prog" would be the genre or style. Is that right?
Also, i sampled a little bit of Dream Theatre. Mike Portney = He's no Stephen Perkins, but he's tight. Is he considered a better drummer than Niel Peart? I never listened to much Rush, but I appreciate Peart from what I've heard.
I'm all for a new BSG thread. Do it!

"The internet is just an excuse for pimply prog nerds to argue who's a better drummer: Peart or Portnoy".
UberBeaver said:Um...are you telling me to stop listening to prog? Lest I become "one of them"? Is it that bad?
Anyway, we might be in luck, cause I have a proglem. I'm not digging the King Crimson album. Like it's good, but its almost like a "broadway" show. Know what I mean? I was looking for something more.....I'm not sure of the word. I want to say "tight" but that's not right. More "rock" less "show". Know what I mean? Like Floyd is expansive, but at the end of the day they're also real basic. I'm looking for something like that, but heavier. Is that prog?

Hi UberBearver,
You might want to check out a band called Riverside. They have a new album out. I would say they are a heavier Pink Floyd and they're a modern prog band too. I know what you mean by the showy stuff - I like that style but alot of classic prog is like that.
