Can't be Bono's. There's no "kneel" in it.

The lyrics are almost certainly Bono's, he's used no end of variations since the zoo tv tour.

Though it wouldn't surprised me if he's cannabilised part of it from somewhere. - A book perhaps?

That's what I would think.
It's probably influenced by something he's seen/read/whatever....
