more US dates??

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I knew they were going to add additional shows to the USA leg 2011...lol Logistically they could play Eugene (portland) oregon or another las vegas show between salt lake city and edmonton. they could play san diego between oakland and aneheim. and then cleveland between either miami and chicago, or philly and new york.

I'll hold off on saying "I knew it" statements until there's an actual official announcement.

But only because it's Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh!

Sorry, Pittsburgh.

Oh, that's a bunch of rubbish. Just because there's a lot of Yinzers who live here doesn't mean it's a nice place to visit. Or live, for that matter!

KDKA's article on the news:

http://kdka.com/entertainment/U2.Heinz.Field.2.1905343.html

After months of behind-the-scenes negotiations, sources say U2 has decided to end their two-year world tour "360" in Pittsburgh.

The venue – Heinz Field on the North Shore.

Heinz Field had been trying to book U2 all along, but until recently the band had no plans of playing here, deciding to end its tour in Minneapolis on July 23, 2011.

But Pittsburgh had a powerful ally – U.S. Ambassador to Ireland and former Steelers chairman Dan Rooney.

Sources say it was Rooney's influence that convinced the band to add one more date to the tour and play right here in Pittsburgh.

Ambassador Rooney flew back from Ireland Wednesday for the Steelers opener, but through a spokesman declined to comment on U2 and the concert negotiations.

Dan Rooney is a fan of U2, has attended their concerts and sources say the band is coming to Pittsburgh at his behest after making a personal appeal to the band's management.

The band is now in the midst of their worldwide tour. Several concerts were pushed back in May when lead singer Bono underwent emergency back surgery, but the band recently returned to the stage.

Barring any last-minute snag, an official announcement on the Heinz Field show will be made in the next few weeks with tickets going on sale for a concert scheduled for July 26, 2011.

:)

I actually just like saying Pittsburgh. It's a funny sounding name. PITTSBURGH!

I was there years ago and spent one of the most boring days of my life there. It wasn't necessarily Pittsburgh's fault.

Still, I'm waiting for something other than "sources say."

Pittsburgh.

I will say this - I will gladly host anyone who needs accommodations in Pittsburgh. I have a riverfront loft that is walking distance from the stadium.

I might still be a little bitter about the Seahawks/Steelers Superbowl fiasco.

Pittsburgh.

OHHHHHHH, I SEE WHAT YOU DID.

I don't actually care that much. Although I thought we were all healed and stuff, and had moved on, until the ref came out and said "Oh yeah, ha ha, my bad. Whoopsy-daisy" recently. That was weird.

I just like ragging on Pittsburgh. And saying Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh.

I'm acting like I really want to be able to go to the final show of the US leg, which should be Minneapolis on July 23rd.

:(

wait that article states they are ending the tour in Pittsburgh? So there goes any chance of any additional European dates to be added in the fall!?

I think they're full of shit about that part, at least. Even if the Pittsburgh show happens.

Dude's probably all "last show! YEAH! Suck it, haters like Cori! ... what? Shows in Dublin later? Eh, fuck that. It's the last US show, and that's all that matters!! YEAAAAAAHHHH!!!!"

And then he'll throw a couple of karate moves and crush a beer can on his forehead.

how is driving on a bridge different from driving on an ordinary road?

it's sort of hard for me to explain this, bear with me...
there were a number of places where, due to the nature of the bridge i guess, i didn't see the sign for the lane/exit i needed to be in ahead of time. then i'd see that i'd have to cross over lanes of traffic to get my turn, which scares me, so sometimes i'd puss out and be like "i'll just take the next turn", but when i did that, i'd be all turned around on another bridge, or some shit like that. i'd honestly get so turned around in some places that i'd get lost when i was trying to get around.

does that sort of explain it?

i'll be honest, i haven't been there in years. i just remember it being a pain in the ass to drive, and this was well before gps became affordable and popular.
