I reckon cultural differences is the one thing we can all agree on here!
I listened to this song on a loop for a fortnight. Have never been the biggest Pearl Jam fan but this song has the lot craft, lyrics high above Bono's current range and the most spine tingling vocal performance I have heard, since hearing One for the first time.
Maybe I am just getting soppy in my old age but I don't know if U2 are capable of writing a song that takes over your soul and wonder what life was like before Sirens.
A song about impending death and love he still feels, he sings: before you were here, I danced in laughter with the ever after. But all things change let this remain. Mighty lyrics to me.
Great song. Thanks for posting
Worldcup has no commercials during game play. Pre game, half time, and post game.
And I fucking love worldcup. And championsleaguefinals as well. And I'm a big fan of the Barclayspremierleague. Manchesterunited is my favorite team.
I also enjoy watching theworldseries and thenbafinals. Not as big of a fan of thestanleycupfinals though.
Perhaps U2 can do a television advertisement at the tostitosfiestabowl.
Tour opens in June, which seems very likely and obvious, and in line with what Larry and Bono said about the tour opening in May. I can't see how anybody could justify U2 playing arenas in Europe. Take Paris, for example; 2 nights at Bercy = about 30,000 people vs 2 nights at Stade de France = 180,000 people. Rough estimates obviously. Artistically arenas would be great, and lead to better shows and setlists, but from a business standpoint, it's almost a waste of time for U2 to play an arena show, when they could play at a stadium in town and play to 4 times as many people, if not more.
360 showed us that if priced right, U2 can do a stadium tour in the USA. Vertigo probably should've been in stadiums here, as the demand existed, which they've pretty much said in hindsight. I do believe there will be some arena shows in the US this time, though. Get into some of those smaller markets.
Australia/NZ, South Africa, South America will obviously be in stadiums. Japan might get some arena shows, like they did during Vertigo, or they may not mess with Japan anymore, as it hasn't been a strong market for them since the late 80s. An arena leg could be done in Pacfic Rim Asia.
They said they'd do things differently to 360 on the next tour, and Bono mentioned going into arenas.
I wonder whether the tour will start in Europe? I know the rumours, but touring Europe in June/July may not be the best idea due to the World Cup. The U2 Nation machine will surely have considered this?
The world cups in brazil so why would that effect planning a tour in europe?
The stadiums will be full with or without the world cup,im sure theve toured before when the world cups on.

16th June U2 - Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam
16th June Netherlands v Germany 9pm kick off
Do you not think a scenario like that would effect ticket sales?
I think the last time they toured Europe during a World Cup was possibly 1982
actually they did write Moment of Surrender
have you heard the rest of the album by chance? Im wondering if its as good as sirens...

The albums a grower with different styles from blues to punk. Future Days is a beautiful lullaby to end the record. Sirens tho is on a different planet, his father died of MS and he is friends with an athlete who suffers from a motor neurone type disease, I think they must have been an influence on this song. It gives us a window into their life and the emotions they deal with, from feeling invincible when they were young to death over their shoulder.
Probably I'm getting a bit carried away, it's just a song. It's just that it tells a story that consumes you and you don't want it to end.
Woohoo! 1%......Get hype!Just saw that on Grammy website:

Seems that everyone is sure that we gonna have a new U2 album on early 2014 =) And yes, look at the volume of votes
Football is huge here so I do think that if there's conflicting dates, it'd generate less ticket sales from casual fans. Sure the hardcore ones will still go see U2, but people who just want a night of fun would rather watch footy for free with mates.
I mean ordinary love should be out maybeeee this week? Definitely next. Right??
Was browsing Coldplay forums looking for any updates about their next album, I came across some U2 rumor. A confirmed rumor in the Coldplay circle said that they were shooting for may/June 2014 to release their new album, but have pushed it back to September to avoid competing with U2, who will release their album in April. Take that for what it's worth, which isn't much.
With the timezone differences, I'm sure they can make it work without much issue
