I bet there is violins..
And then the lead into to Dancing Queen was something that defined every single concert.
I actually like the acoustic Desire version much more than the album version. Same with Stuck. Actually, I think all the songs played a the Union Chapel gig were brilliant. I'd love to hear an acoustic U2 album but doubt that will ever happen.
You forgot the best (U2) song of the last 15 years... A man and a woman
Hey, if you like it, that's cool. I just think the acoustic version of Desire completely removes the propulsive element of the song.
Stay, Staring At The Sun, and Stuck are all excellent acoustic, and I'm glad they've gotten the attention they deserve from the band.

Finkle is Einhorn
Moment of Surrender is Mercy.

Eno is U2's greatest cheerleader.
If oyu hear the aucustic version of Stuck in the Moment...
You can understand Enos opinion.
Unfortunately then Eno over-produced the song and it lost something in the translation.
Yes, Eno said 'Moment of Surrender' was the "best thing" he'd ever done wth U2, which means he didn't say it was the best U2 song. However, Eno has arguably produced U2's best songs to date. If you did a "best" U2 song list, the majority of music fans would pick the following in no particular order...Here's what Eno said:
He didn't say MOS was the best song ever. Christ.
He didn't even say it was U2's best song.
He said Moment of Surrender was the best U2 song he had worked on.
And he bet Bono that Stuck would be their biggest hit in the U.S. only.
Yeah...I'm guessing that "The Cedars of Lebanon" is going to be sort of like "City of Blinding Lights," in that it's upbeat but still somehow subdued.Anyone else have a fantasy about what the new songs might sound like from the titles or talk about them?
I liked the acoustic version of Lost from Viva la vida but why did they have to overproduce it to death on the album version?

'Streets'
'With or Without You'
'Pride'
'I Still Haven't Found'
'One'
'Stay'
'Bad'
'Beautiful Day'
'The Unforgettable Fire'
'Miss Sarajevo'
'Sunday Bloody Sunday'
'New Year's Day'
'Running To Stand Still'
'Kite'
'All I Want is You'
Now, out of all these "best" U2 songs, the top 3 (arguably more) are all Eno's anyway! So when Eno said MOS was the "best thing he'd ever done with U2," it's saying the same thing as, "the best U2 song ever," without actually saying it.
Guiding the boys. Heck he might even write half the songs and arrangements for all I know.
U2 songs always say written and performed by U2.
That means immediately Brian Eno is a member of U2 whether he tours with them or not.
Brian Eno is a producer not a member, there is a distinct difference.
If Mercy is MOS I'll cry--and not from happiness. Don't get me wrong, I think Mercy is a pretty good song, but it is also easily the most overrated U2 song ever (among superfans). I think roughly 82% of this is due solely to its unreleased, mythical leaking status. I digress. If Mercy = MOS that means that Eno has lost his taste, and that the rest of the album is middling. I actually wouldn't be that bummed to hear it in a significantly tweaked form on the album, especially if it adds to the overall cohesiveness and pervasive atmosphere of the LP. But I definitely won't be bummed if its not on there.
I would have loved to hear an acoustic version of Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me.
"They want you to be Jesus, they will go down on one knee but they want their money back if you are alive at 33"
Because it never made a U2 album and was a front song for a rather tired Batman movie, it never ever got the exposure that it deserved.
