All they really need to do is hit Edge in the temple with a heavy guitar so that he forgets his signature sound and comes up with something brilliant and non U2-generic.

This got me thinking. If someone DID knock Edge on the head and he did forget the "signature sound", and if he somehow avoided hearing any of the existing U2 music, do you think he would come up with the same sound again, independently? Was it something inherant in U2 or Edge that gave rise to that sound, or was it just "Hey, this sounds cool, let's use it!"?

I think it's a combination of when and where they were at the time and the skill level of Edge at the time.

He wasn't the first but he definately took it to another level...

If that did happen i'd sit edge down and bang on some hendrix or page ASAP.

I think if edge was hit in the head, and lost all recollection of his signature 'silver notes'... he would only need to turn on the 'delay' switch, and he'd find his way
