The missing children of Katrina..............

Here We Are

Here we sit on the shelf
boxed within the confines
except we want to break out....
into the real world
to interact with one another
to dance and sing and play.

So many we can’t find
like toys upon an empty shelf...
we are the children....
the children of the storm.

Lost but not forgotten
hear our call of distress
we want to return
to those we love.
Homeless and lost
we are the children....
the children of the storm
needing to be found.
How can we reach out
and find you......

We know you hear our call
we know you understand
how can time and space
define exactly where we’re at.
If only our tears could become
a road of feelings
we could travel down the path
and find our way home again.

We are the children
the children of the storm
bound by the unknown
but determined to break out....
perhaps a secret door or
an open window of time.
We know we’ll find each other
because hope is on our side
and love can conquer all
just look into our eyes....

Here we are....
the children of the storm.

I don't get why ...........

eh......

 REALLY nice written Wizard2c...here we are all watching it on our tv's trying to understand the best way that we can what's going on there...some of us are heartbroken...like me...but can we really do something about the rage of Mother Nature??? Or should we just stare in shock, wide eyes open, heart breaking...

We should do something, I should do something first of all!!!

But action is so a powerful word, that we're afraid of beating swords with it...afraid of consequences...But in this case it would save millions of lives...so stare back...NO!!!!

As someone who's had the privilege of visiting New Orleans (one of the world's most fascinating cities), I was hit pretty hard by the recent tragedy, despite not having any direct friends or relatives there.

I haven't read much non-journalistic writings on the subject, and I really appreciate what you've put down here in DOL.

Thank you.

Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier, you've done really well to convey the general feeling in regards to the disaster, well wrote and socially aware, great writing Carol:bow:

Hey is everyone still concerned with Katrina? Hell no it caught our attention for a few minutes. Now the biggest concern is whether the Saints are staying in town. I hate to be the cynic but Katrina was big until CNN, FOX, ABC, CTV, found another story. I bet it gets big again around election time.................so sad.

Unfortunatly that's the way the media works.

Instant gratification, of sorts...... :|

I hear about katrina, from time to time....
