How are things, Traviud?
I've never heard a note of Grizzly Bear's music, but indie douchebags claim they're the second coming.
They're pretty good. Rootsy. Like a more harmonic, less falsetto version of Bon Iver. I've only heard the Yellow House album though, and just recently.
8. Deerhunter - Microcastle (you should give this record a shot if you haven't already; some real decent soundscapes in here, along with tougher indie rock, great record)
I'm looking forward to it. Their support is a bit limited here at Interference, but a few people I really respect champion them.
And, by the end of the night, I'll have heard 10 albums from 2009.
I've heard a bit about it but haven't looked into it. Probably should do that. Haven't listened to much new music at all lately, actually. I've been in a kind of consolidation phase of what I do have, and checking out stuff already in my collection that I had previously not given enough time.
Nice to see Fables on your list. Survivor's going to be hell for it.
I heard the Veckamawhosit album is a really bad quality rip, though.... So I'm waiting on that.
I became aware of that record about 3 months after I recommended M83 and Fleet Foxes to you. Could have made for an awesome trifecta.
It was great hearing it again today. I was pleasantly surprised by how little of it I actively disliked. At worst, a couple of tracks float around and make no impression. At best? Feeling Gravitys Pull, Driver 8, Can't Get There From Here...
You know, M83 really are one of those bands who could be neatly summarised in a Best Of. If they put out one, I'll probably buy it.
Agreed.
But I need to check out Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts before I can make a proper assessment.
It'd be nice if Gonzales could focus that songwriting vein for the 3-4 songs per album that are wonderful for an entire album.
Called Sea and Sky!
Why did Anthony Gonzalez lie?!
