So, some of us enjoy designing sets, and I figured I'd create a bit of a challenge for those who do. These sets will likely be blatantly unrealistic - in other words, the point is not to create what you think the fifth leg setlist will actually be. The point is to have some setlist fun.
The challenge is to devise a setlist for the first night in Sydney without using any more than FOUR of the songs from a certain category. There are three levels of challenges, so choose which one you want to do (and specify which), or just do all three if you'd like!
The challenge: you are U2, and because you don't come to Sydney all that often, you want to treat fans to a special set. You figure that your average Sydney fan was a teenager in 1993 and has seen U2 on ZooTV and Popmart, so you'd like to play songs that they haven't heard live before. You are also aware that quite a sizeable amount of fans would have seen U2 in 1989 too, and a good number did back the first time U2 came to Australia in 1984.
Challenge level 1: Design a set with no more than four songs from Category A.
Challenge level 2: Design a set with no more than four songs from Categories A and B.
Challenge level 3: Design a set with no more than four songs ever played before in Sydney (i.e. no more than four from Categories A, B, and C).
Make sure you specify which challenge you're doing. Your set may be between 22-25 songs long, must have two encores, and the main set must be at least 15 songs long. You must also keep in mind that this is the Vertigo Tour, so don't ditch HTDAAB, and also remember U2 skipped Australia on the Elevation Tour.
