there's nothing special about it, not to me and not to you, but at the end of the day whether we warrant a photo worthy of a copyright is irrelevant, its his photo and his right to claim it from the off whether you like the picture or not
and thats a stupid argument - how many pictures in your photo album are of things that belong to you? the mountain in the background, the boats in a dock? congratulations, according to your reasoning you just wasted time taking photos of things that don't belong to you
and yeah, amazing pictures come from inanimate objects - i'm not even beginning to say that this is one of them, but who's to say that a picture you or i might deem pointless isn't worth something to someone else. it not a matter of artistic judgement or worthiness, its a right to claim
