I'm not feeling Raised by Wolves that much, either. It's good, but the other 9 tracks have grown on me exponentially, and it stayed behind with Song for Someone.

After giving it a couple days rest:

AMAZING
1) The Troubles
2) Every Breaking Wave

VERY GOOD
3) California
4) Raised By Wolves
5) Song For Someone

GOOD
6) The Miracle
7) Iris
8) This Is Where You Can Reach Me Now
9) Cedarwood Road

OKAY
10) Sleep Like A Baby Tonight

NOT MY THING, BUT WHATEVER, 10 OUT OF 11 AIN'T BAD
11) Volcano

I've given up ranking because it seems unfair for any of these songs to be below 7th.

I have done what others have done and given a few tiers:

Incredible, amazing, epic U2 listening:
EBW
The Troubles
Raised By Wolves
Song for Someone
Iris

As good as the best of the 00s (except MOS):
Cedarwood Road
California
Volcano
Sleep Like a Baby
This is Where...

Brilliant, would be a decent single on ATYCLB, Bomb or NLOTH:
The Miracle

Raised By Wolves, Sleep and Iris are ridiculously good and the rest of the album is really good too. Not a single clunker.

I like 'em all for the most part.

Volcano is prob my least fave, despite having the best bass moment on the record.
The Miracle is 2nd last, it has good sections but ultimately feels like it's trying too hard, and the chorus is unmemorable.
The one song that has lessened in value is This Is Where You Can Reach Me Now...there's nothing objectionable about it, and I love Edge's Stones-y guitar in the intro, but it just passes by without leaving much of an impression. It seems like filler.

Faves:

Iris
Raised by Wolves
Cedarwood Rd.
Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
The Troubles

Other ones I genuinely like but am not going apeshit over

EBW
California
SFS

All in all, that's pretty consistent these days for a U2 album.

I'm just curious if there is a Poll version of the various ranking threads? While I like seeing the buckets people are using to categorize, like Joy (a great word by the way) I think it would be interesting to see how a poll of the songs ended up.

Same with the album ranker thread(s).

Did I miss the poll thread(s) or can someone start one?

Thanks.

Oh, and here's maybe a giggle for you - my 9 and 11 year old daughters like the part in Raised By Wolves where the instruments make that 4 beat percussion 'kee kee" sound (hard to describe) -- it reminds them of Ben Stiller's Cobra team from DodgeBall.

My 7 year old daughter has fixed her favourite song from SOI :

RAISED BY WOLVES !!! I am really impressed at her taste.

01 - Iris (Hold Me Close)

07 - Raised by Wolves
08 - Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
09 - The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)
10 - Volcano
11 - Song for Someone

Meh, who knows.
It's all very good - great.

Not sure if a separate thread should be created, but I'd love to see where more people would rank Invisible had it been included.

Many seem to feel that the #2 spot works well on a custom playlist.
