A line in Bob Marley's Redemption Song really gets me, "How long shall they kill our prophets while we stand around and look?" And another from Get Up, Stand Up, "Most people think great God will come from the sky and make everybody feel fine. But if you know what yours is worth, you will look for yours earth."
Lines such as these really inspire me. Why are humanists definitionally atheist? And, why are religious people so anti-humanism?
Couldn't the two come together? I mean, i look at people like Bono, who believe in God, and yet try to live a life putting their faith in and inspiring people. That "people got the power" sing-along at the end of Bad is very inspirational as well.
What do you folks think? Can a synthesis be formed here?
