I gotta say: I'm not all over this track. Just peronal preference. It sounds cool and all. I just don't like it yet.

Anybody else notice that they're playing a slightly different mix of vertigo to the bits of the HQ performance video? Edge's guitar part that's kind of buried in the mix at the end of the release version is longer and clearer in it.

And of course you must state so or else we wouldn't fill our quota of negativity per thread.

Any chance that someone could encode a smaller file.
Damn dial up. I had 78% downloaded and got disconnected. And it's nowhere to be found in my temp files.

I'm going to try and get a Quicktime and lower-bitrate WMV file encoded soon.

Honestly though, it's worth the hassle downloading it. You really want this to be at full quality. One thing you might check into is a download manager that can resume interrupted downloads. Or, you can use a web browser like Firefox (highly recommended) - http://www.getfirefox.com - which includes a download manager.

I'm not being negative. I'm just stating my personal preference and that I don't like it YET. Meaning that it will have to grow on me. On the flip side, I loved COBL, ABOY, OOTS, MD on the first listen. This one may take longer for me.

Also, this clip doesn't really get too far into the song. Just the intro and first verse really.

However, after having heard the long beach clip in addition to this one minute intro clip, I'm really convinced that this is going to be a major stand-out track on the album (one of many, it's seeming). More importantly though, it also seems like U2's most unique and creative song since AB.

Play this clip loudly on some nice speakers with a good amount of bass, and I think you'll quickly find appreciation for it!

i'm guessing that some of what we're hearing is a remix like vertigo is on this promo. sounds sweet.

This new clip of LAPOE is absolutely amazing. I hope this is exectly how it sounds on the album. I have this fear that maybe this is just a remix or something. It sounds so good! It is the sound of four men chopping down ATYCLB. This is a good sign. I haven't felt this way about a U2 song since before ATYCLB.

I don't think this is a remix at all. I remember one review specifically saying that it had a "NIN-like" intro, which is exactly what this is. The pace of the song is also the same as the beach clip, which I suspect to be the album version of the song as well. I'm pretty sure this is the real thing :)

more like its the sound of four men stealing all that you can't leave behind :)

yeah I remember that NIN comparison. That is the one thing that gives me hope that this is the album version.

It is going to be a great transition coming right after the beautiful, uplifting, sad SYCMIOYO (I am guessing since I have not heard that song). It reminds me of other album track transitions...WOWY into BTBS or One into UTEOTW. I really am geting a little too excited.

I know this is asking a lot, but could someone rip the audio from it and post it? I am having mega problems trying to download it.

I basically just want to hear the mintue of LAPOE, I'll see the video soon enough, I want to hear some NIN-esque Eno intro.

Alright, it's time for me to get some sleep. I've been up for about 26 hours now. Stupid election coverage keepin' me up :) At any rate, here are 5 download sources for the video. Hopefully this will keep it going for a while!

Thanks a ton Gorman! I'm really liking LPOE. Nothing like the beach clip. This was a lot more sinister sounding rather than just straight bluesy. Awesome!

looking at the total time of love and peace or else based on the various clips we have, i agree that this probably is the real deal including that long intro. very cool.

Awesome!

Reminds me of Zoo Station, Zooropa and The Fly!

The distorted voice...the synths...

And that awesome guitar we heard on some previous clips...

WOW!

Nothing like ATYCLB!!! THANK GOD!

Question -- how in the world did you capture streaming video??? What software did you use??? I use Total Recorder for capturing streaming audio, but what do you use for video?

Thanks.
