I love the added lyrics of this version on the Rattle And Hum DVD by Bono!!!

It was a cold a cold and wet December day
When we touched the ground at JFK
Sunset on the Uncle Sam
Charlie the Birdman
And an angel
New York like a Christmas tree
Tonight this city belongs to me
Angel

Soul Love, this love won't let me go
So long, Angel of Harlem

Moonlight on the avenue
God knows when they got to you
Strung out, you learned to sing
Eyes swollen like a bee sting
Birdland on 53, the street sounds like a symphony
We got Jon Coltrane and a love supreme
Miles and she’s got to be an angel

Soul Love, this love won't let me go
So long, Angel of Harlem

I was wondering if anybody knew if a longer version of this songs exists anywhere? In a live format or studio? I hate how they cut off the rest of the song on the movie :(

--- Edit.. why is this in the album .. <_< move it to the everything you know is wrong please....sorry

I don't think those are added lyrics; I'm sure they are an earlier version of what became the final lyrics. Bono tends to make things up at the microphone, which results in mixing and matching lyrics, changing things around, to find a final version (which then often get changed again live).

I always thought the "Charlie, the birdman" line was a bit cheesy -- glad he deleted it.
