I did notice it, but I thought I read somewhere that Lakisha was actually Sanjaya's best friend in the house. They were supposedly really close. I could be wrong though. It may be Melinda. But I know I read that somewhere

It's LaKisha, and I really should not know that.
I think LaKisha is a phenomenal singer, but I think it's possible she started coasting on all the praise she got and didn't put enough focus on song choice and broadening her style to be good in all genres. It's become clear to me how important song choice is on that show, even for the best singers. It's not enough to be a phenomenal singer, and each individual performance does matter. All of that matters even though it's also a looks/popularity/Sanjaya fluke phenomenon show.

I do think there's a different group of people buying vs. voting...I also think the person who votes 100 times isn't buying 100 copies of a cd. Just looking at the success of past Idols it seems the AI audience tends to favor light pop/adult contemp type stuff (Kelly, Clay) and country (Carrie). Truthfully I'm surprised Daughtry's done well, I'd think the AI connection might turn off a more rock audience.
Oh and what's this week's theme, anyone know? I don't remember hearing...

American Idol Africa Special: 'Idol Gives Back'
Bono is due to meet with the six remaining finalists to talk with them about the work of ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History and how they and the show's audience can help in the fight against extreme poverty.
The 'Idol Gives Back' special will run over two nights in the US this week, Tuesday and Wednesday. Bono's chat with the finalists will feature briefly on the Wednesday evening show.
The special will raise money for Charity Projects Entertainment Fund (CPEF) and other organisations that help children and young people in extreme poverty.
