I spend alot of time with Cinemax porn so I guess I'll be right at home with that tune. Actually, I can't tell a whole lot from that clip. I get the Blue Room comparisons. It settles into it's groove just the way Blue Room did.
 
I was never able to play it straight from Walmart, but found them on youtube, I guess they show potential, can't judge from this clip
 
Someone mentioned that this album kinda sounds like Sting's Brand New Day-- and it does kinda, and it doesn't. It does because Brand New Day is very jazzy and it has some of those "I'm telling a story about my life" songs that NLOTH has. But Brand New Day goes off the deep end with the jazz feel.

This album on the other hand incorporates that jazz feel but it still is a rock album and it has intensity and a sense of urgency unlike Brand New Day.

After a few listens I have to say that Adam and Larry are more noticeable on this album on any album since Achtung Baby. Every band member seems to have their moment.
 
Ah, forgot one thing:


NLOTH, the song, kicks fuckin' ass. The best of those clips....
 
U2 totally ripped off $ting's Desert Rose from Brand New Day by recording in Morocco and using Arabic musicians and now the whole album's going to sound the same.

There are quite a few posts from users expressing their disdain for these clips... most by the same individuals and within the span of a few minutes. Sometimes I wish people would use the "edit" feature so these types of threads wouldn't be bogged down by so many posts expressing every fraction of a thought that pops into their head :doh:

EXAMPLE:

Post: "Magnificent sounds like a polished b-side from 2 decades ago. WTF U2?"

Same user, 1 minute later: "totally disappointed with Breathe, too"


Instead of boosting your post count, just edit the post and get it all out within the confines of a singular, confined text-box :wink:


And speaking of "Breathe," I didn't care too much for the beach clip when I first heard it, nor am I particularly impressed with it, now. Just my 2 cents...
 
Not saying it's a bad thing (I actually really like it), but who else thinks that "White as Snow" sounds like a cross between "O Come O Come Emmanuel" and "Lament" from "Evita"?

Not annoying to me. I've listened to them 20 times each. I'm sucking the marrow out of every clip. Excellent stuff. I don't think the album is going to dissapoint. (sigh of relief) :up:

Well f&$k off and read a different thread a$$hole. Coz this one's about discussing the 30 sec clips. ALL of it's is speculation. That's why I started by saying "first impression". Didn't say it was "fact".

like saying sting stole the phrase desert rose from in god's country...the stones done morocco, blur done morocco...have you heard any stones/blur rip-offs yet.

WHOA...just hearing these for the first time.

BREATHE is phenomenal...and the guitar hasn't really kicked in....love the way bono delivers the lyrics...and the lyrics themselves are great. he's never written like that.."why would i invite a stranger into my home, would you?" great line....
 
i'd have to agree that the magnificent part on the clips is the ending of the song. it doesnt make sense to start the song with that. i pretty sure that is the outro having listened to the beach clips. as i mentioned before..........dont know what happened to breathe. they took out all of the rawness of the song. the beach clip....despite the shitty quality....sounded really good.

Yeah, I had noticed that "White as Snow" sounded much like a Christmas carol. I can't say that's a good thing. Then again, snow is associated with christmas and winter, so I guess that's the sound they're going for.
 
These clips make me feel so much better, to be perfectly honesty I was worried...

The Magnificent clip, like all the clips, is from the beginning.

It might be a stretch to say that. :shrug: The quality of the beach clip is shitty enough to distort one's perception of what it actually sounds like. Did you ever hear the beach clip for Miracle Drug?

I agree with you the beach clips spoiled me and Breathe is a half step slower now....but I disagree with you about "Magnificent".....I thought there was some review of the album that said it opened with Bono singing the title of the song.....I hope it is the end...but I'm afraid that's the beginning of the song :|
