The most amazing thing about him being that he's still alive and just dropped out of the presidential race after getting less than one percent in the Iowa democratic caucus.
oh dear
The most amazing thing about him being that he's still alive and just dropped out of the presidential race after getting less than one percent in the Iowa democratic caucus.
So at least five districts awarded a delegate with a coin toss. In all five, Clinton won.
Clearly this is proof that the moneyed interests are unequivocally hostile to Bernie.
The most substantial claim is that Bernie Sanders has some fans on the Internet who are assholes. Which puts him in exclusive company with literally everything. The same thinkfluencers who argue that Bernie Sanders needs to take personal responsibility for people he's never met being rude to journalists on the Internet (who are already berated and ridiculed by fans of everything else) are also filling column inches by doing the human-dignity equivalent of reaching a whole arm through a buzzing garbage disposal to latch onto yet another slime-slicked take festering in the U-bend and explaining why Hillary Clinton does not need to explain anything further. She doesn't need to justify that Iraq War vote again, or the destabilization of Libya, or that desire to go hog wild in Syria, or that 1990s support for welfare reform that hit women hardest, or those 1990s tough-on-crime policies she endorsed along with private prisons, or those speaking fees at Goldman Sachs or that opposition to reinstating Glass-Steagall.

This is the dim path where a career pro-gay-rights feminist looms as a misogynist and an enemy to identity politics because some people with egg avatars sent some tweets. Where a candidate who personally earned millions in speeches and whose campaigns were significantly funded by Wall Street firms that nearly broke the world is equivalent to the candidate whose whole campaign opposes them because, apparently, he took money from a nurses' union. Where a legitimate candidate of the working class will be hammered over and over in an authenticity battle with a campaign that weekly releases some "How do you do, fellow kids?" embarrassment and whose Instagram manager is a woman with her own HBO series. Where the real progressive candidate has already pledged not to raise any middle-class taxes and once called people on welfare deadbeats.
I though that the substantial claim against Bernie Sanders is that his ideas bend too far to the left for some of his own party, let alone that any Republican in Congress will ever vote for anything he puts forward?
I really don't understand all the glee about Trump being a loser (well, ok, I do, he's an unbearable oaf) without acknowledgment that Ted Cruz is far, far worse. He's a true believer.
Well, there's greater context to what the "substantial claim" is in that article, which is more about how the campaigns were talking about one another in Iowa as opposed to the broader picture that you are talking about. But you are correct. There's a reason Clinton keeps saying "I get things done." The implication is that Sanders cannot because every idea he presents will be summarily dismissed due to his leftist leanings.I though that the substantial claim against Bernie Sanders is that his ideas bend too far to the left for some of his own party, let alone that any Republican in Congress will ever vote for anything he puts forward?

Hillary is actually not a very good candidate. She's highly unlikeable, has questionable ethics, and her experience and track record is incredibly overstated.
That she's even in a dog race with an actual socialist says more about her than it does about Sanders or the party.
I have to think Biden is kicking himself for not jumping in.
Not for nothing, but the idea that in the year 2016 we’re deciding who gets to run for the most powerful position in the western world by having people stand in groups in a gym, and/or folded slips of paper is fucking frightening.
That's right Iowa Hawkeye cauci is irrelevant, every once in awhile this blind pig finds an acorn, not this time. Not for nothing, but the idea that in the year 2016 we’re deciding who gets to run for the most powerful position in the western world by having people stand in groups in a gym, and/or folded slips of paper is fucking frightening.
I actually did it whelctionsen I lived in Nevada in 2012. I thought it was a fun democratic exercise. You got to see live human beings express their views. Make friends with people in your neighborhood. Beats arguing with trolls on non-FYM Internet comment sections before going to vote on Election Day.

THANK YOU.
As bad as TRUMP! is, and oh boy.....anyway as bad as he is Ted Cruz666 is probably one thousand times worse. He is much much much much much much much much much much worse.
Also, it's only Iowa. Some people are acting like TRUMP! has lost the GOP nomination. He really wasn't supposed to win Iowa anyway was he? The evangelical candidates were always polling higher until very very recently when he pulled ahead, albeit not by much. Iowa hasn't picked the GOP nominee since when...Reagan? Bush?
I am starting to think that with Hillary being vulnerable the GOP could win. For that reason, i am terrified about some of these prospects. Most of the establishment guys don't terrify me so badly, but Cruz would our ultimate demise. Far worse than even a Huckabee or Santorum! I don't think there are even appropriate words available for me to describe the absolute HORROR it would be for us (and the ROW) if this awful mistake were to be elected. Let's not lose sight of that here.
Go Sanders/Clinton!!

When talking about how awful Cruz is, it should also be noted that he wears two watches. Both wrists have a watch. This guy's fucking out of his mind.

Trump is a troll, but Cruz is truly a despicable human being.
That said... There is a history of despicable Evangelicals winning Iowa and then flaming out. So Cruz winning is not as big a deal as if ClownCar McOrangeFace had won.
