Geldof Praises Bono's Calm Approach

SIR BOB GELDOF would love to have the calm diplomacy of fellow rocker-turned-campaigner BONO.

The former BOOMTOWN RAT admits he becomes angry talking to politicians about the poverty and trade issues in the developing world, and admires the U2 frontman's approach.

Geldof says, "Bono is usually the one who turns round at the end of the meeting and says, 'That's another fine mess you've got me into.'

"We tend to do a good cop/bad cop routine when we meet those people. Bono's more diplomatic than me."

Bono has affectionately commented more than once on what an ironic pair he and Geldof must seem to many: Bono, the practical and diplomatic true believer with a head for stats who also happens to be a rock star; Geldof, the morally impassioned atheist with a rock-star-size temper who's devoted 20 years of his life to serving the poor. Sounds like Sir Bob feels much the same way...
